DIY Bluetooth Audio Aux For Saab 9-3 and 9-5 – Trionic Seven

DIY Bluetooth Audio Aux For Saab 9-3 and 9-5 – Trionic Seven

This is how you get high-quality DIY Bluetooth aux input for the Saab 9-5. It’s easy to install and does not require permanent modification to the car.

The product is called Bluesaab and is a piece of hardware that intercepts the CD changer input in the trunk. You’ll lose any cd changer you have, but in my opinion a Bluetooth aux is more useful.

Bluesaab is an open-source project and you can order the parts yourself to build it. You need skills in soldering surface-mount electronics (easy to learn) and knowledge in flashing a bootloader to an ATMega chip (similar to what you use in an arduino). In this video I’m using Bluesaab v.3.3.

Note: All kits have been sold and I won’t restock them. Consequently, I don’t have the hardware to do the giveaway.

What's the price of this bluetooth unit and is it possible to get one posted to Poland ? thanks!

Hi Jonathan – I have bought my Saab 9-5 2003 like 3 days ago and I felt in love with it, even its diesel. Do you know is there any online site or someone who can tell what was my Saab configuration/equipment when it leave the factory, by VIN number? Of course it would be perfect if it was for free 🙂

BTW, great series about Saabs – I just love the "Followe me home" feature 🙂

Premy Lis says:

I really like what you are doing, would it be possible to fit one of your Bluetooth systems in to a Saab 9-3 2.0t late 04 Vector (no cd changer at all)?

Ermanno Russo says:

thanks for your videos 🙂 i m also a saab enthusiast , me and my gf we have respectively 1 9-3 kombi from 2006 witch icm3 and a 9-3 cabrio from 2004 also with full infotainment system and icm3, i wanted to ask if you know anything on how to upgrade somehow (mantaining stock) the sdal maps maybe by using another gps cpu unit.. if you can make a video, and another video about webasto troubleshooting and possible repair.

As always, inspiring video. Here's something I've been dwelling on … some 9-5s come with a moon roof and some with a rain sensor wiper. If one could incorporate a single board computer with GPIO it could control the sun roof (lift open, not slide) base on cabin temp and close it based on precipitation to help cabin climate control.

I have a 9-5 aero 2005 with the navigation, I really need the aux cord and I can't find anybody with the solution? Could you help or do you have any ideas?

Car Soundz says:

isn't it cheaper to buy smth like xiaomi roidmi from any chineese site ? takes a few bucks but the cdchanger stays the same but you get bluetooth via roidmi+radio 🙂

Så har jag förstått det rätt att man måste ha haft en CD -växlare innan för att bluesaab ska funka?

capang9555 says:

also they sell one pre made on http://www.saabaux.com got one for my 01 9-3. works amazingly well. even comes with a amp to improve output. works with both CD changer and non changer. took me 5 min to install. no problem. cost me $230 USD and well worth it.

Jose Luque-Bermudez says:

Yes you should do this video!!!
Great thanks

Jimbooo 93 says:

http://www.saabaux.se/ funkar hur bra som helst till alla modellerna. utan att behöva cd växlar uttag i bakluckan

NORM4U says:

Does this work for all 9-5's or only for versions with Harman Kardon audio?

Karlis Veilands says:

Great video! BlueSaab should work on 9-3's MY 1999-2002 and 2003 convertible. Also test results show that it works on 9-5's up until MY 2005.

Lennard Hartman says:

I just got a 9-5. Gonna check to see if my car is compatable because this really the only thing i'm missing from the stereo

Red Reds says:

hi Mr Saab red 9-5
how about you build and sell them ..
I am sure people like myself would buy one …
anyway just a thought …
what's your Facebook page ..

Rarebear101 says:

You can buy a bluetooth cassette adapter with a microphone for phone calls for as little as £20. When watching the first few moments I was hoping this video was going to show how you managed to get an adapter to run permanently from the cassette player's power supply (the solution I'm looking for). Bluesaab is however a very neat solution that doesn't require mechanical parts, I would buy it if it was cheaply available.

Mani Hamedi says:

skulle vara väldigt intressant att få se dig gå igenom hela processen på hur man bygger och programmerar enheten så att den fungerar. Tror du skulle få många visningar på den videon 🙂 Grym video och fortsätt gör det du gör!

Kochiha says:

Brilliant video! I have the CD changer harness, but the CD changer was removed by the previous owner for an unknown reason, and putting all of this together would be far less expensive even than finding a working used changer. Though what I have to wonder is will this prevents the use of ANY CD playing capacity including the single-disc player in the head unit, or does this just prevent the changer from being used?

J.E Davis says:

Mvh
