any advice? ” I’ve been experiencing lately some hard shifts and jerks
with the 2nd gear. If I’m in stop and go traffic and take my foot off the
pedal and let it coast, when I go to give it gas there is a hard click you
can feel. It almost feels like a gear catching on a clutch. 2nd into 3rd is
a little harsher than the rest. Every other gear is pretty smooth.”

Hi Tom I hope you can help me, I have a 2000 9-5 saab aero, it runs really
well and the auto goes great in all forward gears, however I have no
reverse, it was reversing but very slowly when I bought it (i knew it had a
reverse problem then and the price reflected this) now though it doesnt
reverse at all, but if you give it a push while in reverse it is easy to
move. I have changed the fluid which was really dirty and smelly, i have
changed it 3 times draining 4 ltrs at a time (as much as will come out the
drain hole) and now it tries to reverse going back a couple of metres but
then stops. Any clues as to the problem, should I adjust the bands and if
so how, I believe it has a Aisin AW 4 speed. Thanks for your time Sue.

Hey Tom Thanks for the video. I have a 2004 SAAB 93 ARC with this 5 spd
A/T. I’ve been experiencing lately some hard shifts and jerks with the 2nd

it coast, when I go to give it gas there is a hard click you can feel. It

im sry u have a 09 9-3 this transmission is not in that car they did put
them in the Saabs 9-3 for 2003-2007

Tom Kra says:

Also this transmission takes special type of transmission fluid replace it
at 100k miles u have to order the fluid they do not sell it at local stores
even if they tell u this fluid will work do not buy it

Tom Kra says:

This transmission is know for over heating and the solenoid’s sticking best
way to prevent this from happening is to put a bigger transmission cooler
on the cooling lines if you want ur tran’s to have more torque and hold up
buy high performance cluth plates

Leonard De'Laure says:

dont have any problems with it for now. just concerned about reliability if
I go beyond the 450nm limit torque for the tranny. Do you have any
experience with strengthening the tranny to handle higher HP and torque?
Thanks, Tom

Tom Kra says:

yes 2009 was the last year they used this transmission in Saab’s 9-5
2002-2009 if you tell me what your transmission is doing i might be able to
tell you easy way to fix it

Leonard De'Laure says:

Hi Tom, do Saabs and Volvos share the same transmission. I am looking to
strengthen and rebuild my Saab ’09 9-3 auto FWD transmission and looking to
get more info on this. Thanks!

Tom Kra says:
