Great video for a guy that never changed oil before.

kaneng wenghong says:

kaneng wenghong says:

Hello Matthew brenengren your car is aero or not

iamoverrated says:

Autozone, Wallmart, NAPA, Advance, any hardware store….

Alex Hetti says:

Thanks, Helped a lot. not as hard as i thought, just needed the right tools
😀

zahlab2 says:

your owners manual? I got mine for free I just downloaded it from GM
Owners, so could you, all you need is a VIN# and a yahoo account thats it!
In the register there is couple of ways to do it. You can record your oil
changes, service, wheel alignments and ballance, multipoint inspection,
tire rotation + access recall info etc.

昊煜 吴 says:

Hi, have you ever change your fuel filter? I heared ppl said that the fuel
filter is insider the fuel pump, so we dont need to change that. Is that
true?

Bret Brennan says:

Well Saab recommends for domestic American oil to be fully synthetic Mobil
1 and other European cars in America but for European synthetic oil would
be Castrol but however any one of those brands of oil would meet closer to
GM but the oil filter is different on a lot of the new Saab Automobiles
from the 80’s-90’s the Saab 900’s and 9000’s and even the other Saabs of
the 00-10’s got well made. traditionally the oil filters are under the
engines and have it big. start it once u r through

hondacrave says:

Supposed to use only 0w that’s what the dealer told me

MacGyver9876 says:

From one Saab owner to another, u can get a free pdf of the owner’s manual
from GM’s Extended Warranty website. I can give u the link or u can just
Google it. It’s not hard to find.

Kasra Sadeghian says:

Great vid thanks!

borderwave2 says:

@mbrenengen Go by the SID, it calculates oil life based on ambient
temperature – cold starts – driving conditions – and engine load. Far more
sophisticated than any ballpark estimate you our I could make.

OwnD1 says:

A fellow Saabian, Thank you so much for putting this up. Helped me change
out my 08 9-3’s oil 😀

Sonphan100 says:

People on here are fucking rude

jimmymullet89 says:

Just for future reference, Saab recommends you use an oil which meets the
GM-LL-A-025 spec for a 2.0t/T engine. The two most common oils are Mobil 1
0w-40 and Castrol 0w-30 European Formula. Both are fully synthetic.
Everything else was spot on, great video.

dimitri stathos says:

THANKS FOR THE INFO

quackbeef says:

@mbrenengen probably because the coolant that GM puts in it is acidic crap.
That pink coolant is called dexcool GM has lawsuits against it because it
slowly degrades engine components. It was supposedly a heavy duty coolant
than can last to 50,000 miles. I would flush it out on your next service
and put in green phosphate free coolant or you might need another
engine….

Thanks for an informative vid. Just did an oil change and filter on our
9-3SS Aero today. I found that there was no gasket for the filter, and the
one that came with the new replacement just broke up when the top of the
filter container was tightened. So I have replaced as was and without. To
make life easier, I jacked up the front of the car, and rested on axle
stands to access the sump plug, which must have been tightened by Arnold
Schwarzenegger. Don’t forget to reset the service indicators!

Chiemi Heil says:

Can you do one for breaks too?

Boujai12 says:

Thanks for the instructional!

aaaaaaaaaa426 says:

Sir please!!! Buy the parts before you drain the oil! It’s not good for the
car to stay without oil for too long. I’m a machanic and I did that once, I
drained the oil went inside for coffé and when I got back the oil pressure
never got back.

kurec86 says:

@mbrenengen well thats true….thats why i change it every 5000k..and i
live in arizona so i have to change it because the tempeture here its like
110 right now:):):)so i have to change it between summer and
winter…but…i think u still have to change it a little more often…if u
wanna keep the engine and the turbo for another 100k miles…:):):)

patuy says:

Advanceautoparts have the sucket its 32mm.filter cup sucket.thanks for this
vid sir.i oil change my 08 saab last wik end.

Cody Norton says:

go to sears and get some craftsman tools, they come with a life time
warranty so if one ever breaks all you have to do is take it to sears and
they give you a brand new one, no receipt or anything needed

trobi says:

I’ve got the same engine than you, removing the oil filter sucks, it’s a 32
mm socket and I remove it with a wrench.

sjonTV says:

What the hell is this guy doing. His car would be better off not being
serviced than put up with the abuse he’s just given it. Leave it alone you
don’t know what your doing!

NWB1989 says:

Most of the Ecotec engines have the most bazare place to have a oil filter
located at.

pickard72 says:

I like how you improvised the funnel for pouring in the 5 liter oil jug!

Can you do one for fuel injectors?

rdavidson10 says:

Good video Now do a serp belt and we are set.

L E .Crisp says:

Nice Video, I have a question. When you are loosening the nut on the oil
sump, which way do u undo the bolt. I have looked and to u pull the wrench
as if to the ground or up to the chasis?

dogmannx says:

this guy is a fucking idiot, do some research before you do a vid dick

MrEwol says:

It seems like you forgot to change the O-ring for the oilfilter. (New one
was Orange and the one that went in was green.) You should also apply oil
to the oring before installing, it may seize and you will have trouble
getting it out next time, When the airfilter is that dirty, you usually
replace it, it´s an really easy way to save fuel. And when you fill oil
from a can like that it´s easier to turn the can on it´s side, much easier
to control how fast your pooring the oil and where it´s going.

wmk1975 says:

you should put an extension on the oil filter cover when you are
removing/installing. I’ve got a 2,0T, it takes 6 qts.

TheOriginaSasquatch says:

Thanks much for the instructional video. I, too, looked all over the engine
compartment from above and below, looking for the oil filter. I suspected
where it was, but needed to confirm it. You did so. Thanks also to the
follow-up comments. A 32 MM socket it is.
