2001 Saab 9-5 engine removal through bottom

My brother begins an engine swap via subframe drop. We’ll be lifting the next motor through the top. This footage was condensed from 50 minutes of work.

Dropping it seemed easier for us. It may be possible as a solo job this way
(probably best if you’re pulling it out the top to have two people).
Raising it out was sketchy because we had a low ceiling garage. Since we
didn’t make extra sure to remove all brackets and the engine mount from the
transmission, it was super tight coming out and it scratched some paint
off. Your situation will likely dictate which is better; I’m still not
convinced there’s a significant time savings either way.
