Porsche IMS Fix 3: How to Remove the Brackets, drive axles, slave cylinder from the Transmission

Part 3 of how I replaced the IMS bearing on my 2000 Porsche Boxster. This video is part of a detailed set of videos of every step I took throughout the process. I will edit these together for a short overview on the intermediate shaft bearing when the project is complete.

In this video I remove the remaining braces, the drive axles, and the clutch slave cylinder.

As always, I am a diy enthusiast and not a professional. this is what I did, but I don’t always get it right. Car repair can be dangerous, and you must take responsibility for your own actions. I will not be held liable.

Mike Sturrock says:

How can you tell if the bearing is worn without stripping the transmission?

Do R/C! says:

Good job man. I'm a "professional mechanic" and it's always cool to see someone just follow the directions and do a job that most wouldn't even think about doing

The 986 is actually a lot easier to work on than it initially appears to be.

Engleburt says:

I'm wondering what kind of cost to change the bearing since you did all the work yourself?

Carlton Wilson says:

Dude, I must say you rock! I'm following this with great interest.

Road and Race says:

Well done sir. Keep going!

STEPHENS POUNDS says:

Looking really good. One question, can you put the actual time you worked on the vehicle for each day or each segment if possible, just so viewers have a realistic time frame of what it could take to do this job. Absolutely great so far.
