How to replace a Windshield in an old Porsche

How to replace a Windshield in an old Porsche

We did a windshield video already but did not set up the camera to catch it all. This time, you get everything. (It’s sped up 20 times, though) More than I wanted to show. I don’t usually get on the action side of the camera, but Kurt does so much work I had to get over it. Not going to happen again!

Thank you guys for the great video, I did this two years ago and it was the most frustrating thing on the entire car. Broke the Porsche windshield reinstalling with Porsche seal, was a complete nightmare. Ended up with a '74 plus windshield with the integrated mirror mount since I couldn't find a new windshield for a '71 anywhere so ended up swapping rearview mirror too. The replacement windshield from Pilkington and OEM seal went in on second try with little fuss. Wish I had this video to follow back then on bending the trim!
If you ever do the rear window on a Targa please film that, it looks like a bigger pain than the front windshield!
One question: would you ever consider use RTV on the perimeter as additional protection from water getting in and to help convince the windshield not to pop out?

My experience with BMW E10 glass is similar, the best method is install the glass without the dash in but if not you can use two lengths of small polyester rope working from the bottom to the top on both sides, though it can be done with one length of rope also…

Hi, I have to do this at some stage. Not looking forward to it, but i dont know who in my area i could trust to do this these days… I see on the pelican forum lots of praise of the new URO seal, it has a wider lip. Any thoughts on that? What was the make of the OEM seal you used? Thank you

I have a 911t Project. The window is in, but not the trim. I figured it would be easy to just pop the trim is as is… but that doesn't seem to be the case.
