Robert Kerr says:

do you know where to get the drivers for this HD? got mine circa 2003 –
presume its the same beast?!

Zurpreme mrZ says:

great video – i have 250 gb i think it might be ide HDD , like yours :)

Martin Buss says:

worked great on my 500 Gig lacie porche by the way inside was a SATA drive

brinstar says:

I have got the plastic cover off, but after that is there any way to remove
the HDD from all the connectors without breaking the caddy?

deschanellove says:

Thanks! My drive is making this weird clicking sound and isn’t being
recognized by my computer anymore. A friend suggested to open it and I soon
replied with “This thing is built like Fort Knox. There seems to be no way
to open it!” This helped! Now I can tell the guy who will try to recover my
memory how to open it to take a peak inside.

Golden PiDgeon says:

not sure mate but i think it’s just the FA Porsche model

jamboni says:

@deschanellove Glad i could be of help:)

Hebininja says:

Thank you for your help 🙂

Thiago Grazioli says:

crazycutz says:

@jamboni Next time you post a video – please turn down the musicscore –
could hardly hear what you where talking about with the 3 plastic things..
thanks for posting anyway.

80leebee says:

Anyone know where to find a cheap power supply for this stupid hard
drive??? I have this thing and don’t want it anymore, but I can’t find the
power supply anywhere!!! HELP? 🙁 Or if you’ve torn yours apart and don’t
need the power supply anymore, can I have yours?!?! LOL

Thiago Grazioli says:

i have an 500gb lacie porsche hard drive and i want upgrade to 1tb, it’s
possible? thanks

De Fu says:

@jamboni still working after 7 years mate

jamboni says:

@thiagograzioli I am not sure. I would assume it depends on that model’s
adaptability. Best to google it 🙂

jamboni says:

no problemo 🙂

xxBroetchenhechtxx says:

thanks bud!

Daedalus Young says:

@deschanellove Check if the power adapter is hissing. If that’s the case,
then that thing is broken and your drive is fine, no need to take it apart.
Just buy a new adapter and flame LaCie for making a no-quality power
adapter.

jamboni says:

@crazycutz wasn’t really going for the best production value, just making
the vid less boring. Will bear that advice in mind.

375GTB says:

Any 5 volt 2 Amp supply with a f4 pin DIN plug should work. I just found a
250GB FA Porsche LaCie USB2.0 HDD for $4.95 in a thrift store. It’s power
supply was in a bag of supplies and cables for $5.95.. MINT condition, not
a scratch on the shell. the drive was still in it’s original FAT 32 DOS
format with LACIE icon. Never had been used. Not bad for 12 Bucks.

jamboni says:

You’re welcome Alex, glad I could help you out 🙂

SunshineCooking says:

Thanks for posting this. Just want you to know that it helped me.

jamboni says:

I think mine was screwed in

LaurenceTristan says:

The power supply goes on these drives, that’s what makes the clicking sound
in most cases so before replacing it try this to make sure it’s not the
shitty power supply. Fuck Lacie!

wazant says:

Thanks, jamboni just what I needed.

jamboni says:

I don’t have this design so i couldn’t say – J

jamboni says:

no problem dude 🙂

andlinux says:

I have a hard drive like in the video but when I opened it, it wasn’t an
ATA hard drive but a SATA…

jamboni says:

I used the Buffalo enclosure of my other external hdd as I wasn’t using the
1 much.

Timothy Mason says:

Thanks for this. I’ve found that the power supply goes on almost any
external HD (had it happen with Verbatim and Iomega), and I’ve had to
rehouse them. Couldn’t see how to get into this one, but your video works
nicely. In future, I’ll be buying disk and housing separately or using a
dock. Your star status is assured.

jamboni says:

@c2conditioning i am not sure what that is

CEOofmylyfe says:

can u tell em the full name or style name of the lacie cuz i need a new
charger

William Mills Payne says:

Thanks a lot , it works .. know I will need to figure out what is the sound
that it has because its not working 🙁

jamboni says:

@draw2much Haha you’re welcome 🙂

jamboni says:

you’re all welcome 🙂

Emillister says:

jamboni says:

gnaccArt says:

jamboni says:

@nondescriptman soz for the delayed reply, i didn’t get a notification
about this comment. You’re welcome, glad i could help 🙂

RAWDOGGTV says:

Thanks for the post, disassemble puzzle solved.

Richard Birks says:

Jamboni, you star! Just what I was looking for. My Lacie just got the click
o’death, and I’m too tight to replace a perfectly serviceable external USB
enclosure 😀

De Fu says:

well done!!!By opening the drive you broken your 2 or 3 year warranty!!

Tyronn Jeet says:

thanks for the video, GREAT HELP !

jamboni says:

@Soul1871 i’ve had it maybe 7 years lol!

Alex Baden says:

Just want to tell you that this helped me a lot! I have a model with a 40GB
IDE disk only. The case looks exactly like the one you have. I wouldn’t
have dared to open the case with violence if I would not have watch your
video. A knife is really the perfect tool to open the case.

jamboni says:

@aleighlewis you’re welcome 🙂
