Chevy Nova says:

Why is your music so loud?

kimmie barnette says:

Thanks for doing this video. I am gonna be tackling this myself soon.

RICO GAINES says:

Congrats to you for doing it yourself. If more people would do the same. I like!!!!

trillchicktv says:

I don’t think the items in this video were expensive but maybe they are to you. $20 is nothing I used what I wanted to to make a video for my own purpose. I’m glad to see your life is watching & commenting on other peoples youtube videos.

trillchicktv says:

Wow! a professional watched my video & left a comment LOL!. I know there are better ways to do this I know people that do a professional job with this type of work. The whole point of this video was to show that any body can do this & it’s very easy. I didn’t do it because I want to become a professional like you obviously must be since it means so much to you & you want everyone to know you can do this also but better why don’t u make a video & show how its really done.

xlueshex says:

I guess this is a good video of what to do if you are just DYING to change out your stereo. But why would you install an expensive stereo with cheap hardware?

Bottom line, if any of you plan on installing a new stereo with tape, get a life! Save up the extra $20 and use the correct hardware…..

xlueshex says:

You can go ahead and call me an “idiot”. I don’t care if you have used tape 47 times before. You’re not going to get as good of a connection if you solder the wires or crimp them with a butt connector. So yes, this is definitely “ghetto” rigged. Also, just crimping the wires won’t do it justice. You need to get the shrink wrap butt connectors. Crimp them down, then use a heat gun to shrink them. AND she’s over here using metal tools on plastic console pieces. Not a good combination.

ilovehugemelons says:

very impressive, the world needs more women like yourself, nothing wrong with using electrical tape i’ve used it many times before and if you wrap it tight like she did it won’t peel off.

Alan Henderson says:

Watched this before doing myself very helpful. I bought a pioneer radio and then the metra and a antenna adapter and that’s all i needed. Everything works… My stock radio had a cd changer error so it wouldn’t take cds. From start to finish it took me about 3 hours to do. Not super hard but just took time. The black connecter is for onstar if your car has it, just plug it in to factory. Very happy with everything. I have done two aftermarket radios before… Thanks

Dumplinman2012 says:

Yeah, but that kit is like $199. In addition to the dvd player which could be $150 and up. But I’m broke so I have to find the cheapest possible route which is to skip the metra kit and do without the information center.

Luis Mora says:

What about that other black connector when you were installing the new stereo? does it stay unplugged or does it goes somewhere else?

Luis Mora says:

wow great job!!! i thought it would be harder than i thought, im going to try it myself.

trillchicktv says:

Had to buy a special kit for it with the info center on it. its the Metra 99-3303 turbo kit

trillchicktv says:

Don’t know what u are talking about switched power cable. I just hooked it up & everything I did is on video and I bought this car new so it came with factory stereo installed. Show the video of your car & all equipment PLEASE!

SublimeDD says:

Already did

rufus mims says:

you did good

rufus mims says:

dont hate

rufus mims says:

hi good job ,

rufus mims says:

you have to pay 100.00 to 150.00 to unlock that factory unit , and maybe that radio work,or not,no refund,so pay 250.00 for radio and kit,no more factory lock ,A+ for the yound lady ,ps if car battery go dead most of the time that factory radio will lock thats more money for the new car companys

tyler davis says:

How did you keep your DIC? (Fuel range, avg speed, notifications)

MrMannie1524 says:

to all the idiots clowning, black ELECTRICAL TAPE works just fine. I used it on my 77 Monte Carlo, 95 taurus, an 05 lac. Of course i was in in school and funds were waaayy too low, now i use the blue crimps, but saying its “ghetto rigged” for the same shit used in houses is pretty retarded to say. install dr also for the most part sends the complete kits fairly cheap and pretty thorough instructions. good job, DIY projects are always the best way to save money these days.

SublimeDD says:

I don’t purchase anything low budget for my car actually, I installed a JVC KW-NT700 ($700), two JL Audio 13W7AE-D1.5 ($1,300 a piece) powered by two Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP ($1,600) and a Tsunami HCAP-40 capacitor ($300)….. far from cheap for the whole setup, so unless you already had a aftermarket radio installed before this video, you DID not have a switched power cable. Sorry dear.

trillchicktv says:

It took longer than it should have! LOL I was just doning something to see if I could do it myself. Thanks for watching. I’m sure it didn’t take best buy as long as me, even hooking up all the equipment you had installed. Thanks for watching! I’m sure they did a good job they are pros at this & this was only my 1st time & I have no desire in making this my job but, I know I can do it again if I had to but better the next time!

trillchicktv says:

If you listen I stated that this was my 1st time ever installing a stereo. I did NOT need to run a switched power cable for the radio to power on you can see that in the video. You must have purchased a low budget stereo or have a different car than in the video. I have seen someone have to run a wire in order for the stereo to turn off & not run down the battery but not in my case I just matched wires & hooked it up. The taped wires lasted as long as I needed them to I have a diff car now.

trillchicktv says:

Well it was my 1st time doing an install & I am nowhere near a professional when it comes to this. I could have got someone to install it for me but I wanted to see if I could do it myself & I did. Glad u thought enough of it to leave a comment.

trillchicktv says:

You’re Welcome!

cupcakewithpoopicing says:

This helped me out, thank you very much.

Jay Zeus says:

You have no idea what you are talking about regarding an aftermarket stereo installation in a G6.

lolatruck says:

You could have saved a lot of trouble and found the upgrade factory unit with CD, XM, ect. EBay and most car audio shops still have the factory unit when they do a PROFESSIONAL!!! install. No black tape. This was the most ghetto ass way to do this. But a small amount of props to a chick that took on a big project like this.

Shush De'Carta says:

Hey, where did you hook up the black wiring harness? I’m installing the same kit, and i don’t know what it’s supposed to hook up to? It has the green/orange and white/red wires pinned to it.

SublimeDD says:

Ghetto rig at it’s best, there’s more to this installation, this crazy girl is leaving important parts out. The Pontiac G6 wiring harness does NOT have a switched power cable, you need to run one yourself in order for your radio to even power on. I’d like to know how long those ghetto ass twisted/taped wire connections last you……..

The1shadows says:

i spent 1850 on my car, deck dash kit amp speakers and all wires. best buy did a re4ally goo djob with all that though.,

The1shadows says:

how long did this take you? i paid best buy to do the same thing lmao! good for you !!

trillchicktv says:

My bad I told you the wrong one the 1st one is the metra 99-3303 & the best price I could find for it at this time is $138 @ thewirezone(dot)com no shipping charge for the US 48 contiguous states

trillchicktv says:

Its made by platinum audio. it’s for GMCK-05UP I’ts been a while & I don’t remember where I ordered it but they have a website: Platinumaudioinc dotcom. Hope that helps.

Aj C. says:

The Metra 99-3303 costs between $150-$350 WITHOUT the extremely large cost of shipping for the large, heavy package it comes in as well. So good luck everyone. I managed to find one on eBay for $78 brand new. But that was 4 months of searching everyday. I was very lucky.

What installation kit is the first one?
