Johnnysshop says:

On most cars you do. I believe so on that one also.

kevin black says:

do you have to take the door panel completely off to change the door speakers out?
a pontiac grand prix 2000 model//

Johnnysshop says:

I’ve been outta of it so long it’s hard to say. When I was competing in sound-offs you could not get a better head-unit than Alpine.

tom inator says:

in your opionion what is the best brand of stero? to buy ie sony, JVC ect

Johnnysshop says:

You can just get some terminal connectors and crimp them on. They are available at just about any hardware store, radio shack, etc..

npacal says:

how would you complete an install without soddering? or having to use the factory speaker bracket when speak is glued to it. thankyou!

Johnnysshop says:

Just have to run a new wire from the radio to the speaker.

Nolen Mountain says:

what if i wanted to replace the speaker wire

deathbringer2424 says:

im the same way i solder on the old harness to my speakers to.

Johnnysshop says:

I’m sure it’s a little different but the same idea.

pooh40 says:

is this the same for a g6 2006

johnnymwmadden says:

@sonicreactiontv no you dont have to disconnect the battery, just have the car off

petey2310 says:

How much did the speaker cost its cool

SonicReactionTV says:

I have to disconnect the battery right?

Johnnysshop says:

You can check them on Crutchfield.

Johnnysshop says:

GuN5oUnDz says:

GuN5oUnDz says:

Johnnysshop says:

You can crimp on connectors.

AIMatthis says:

Do you have to have a soldering gun to do this or can it be done some other way? Plz answer, thnx

Johnnysshop says:

Usually not..

pochy34 says:

cant i put these bad boys in without the door panel removal?

Johnnysshop says:

LOL… Thanks. Yeah, it’s good to learn that’s for sure!

xgregman894x says:

You are nice. I told my dad I wanted to upgrade my speakers. He just said good luck. Wanted me to learn it by myself. It’s pretty easy to do. He’s upgraded stereos in all his cars so he’d help me if I got into a jam

Johnnysshop says:

Honestly not sure. My guess is that maybe the car has a factory amp of some sort or a crossover built in. It could be wired in series or parallel with another speaker even. Still doesn’t explain 5 wires really though.

julien hunt says:

i have a 1990 dodge spirit and the speaker has 5 wires going to it. i have never seen this before. all the speakers have crapped out over the years except one but it sometimes crackles. i think its time for new speakers. so do i have to buy a special speaker have you heard of this before?

julien hunt says:

or just cut the wires…

Johnnysshop says:

Get a cheapo from Home Depot. Less than $20

ratkiller1 says:

I dont have a soldering gun…. 🙁

Johnnysshop says:

@100karrilon LOL.. True!

Budz Wingren says:

Didnt have any depth issues. I didnt remove the factory baffle…just trimmed it so the new speaker magnet would clear it. Now have nice 6″s where the 4×6″s were. Had to use a 1″ ring spacer on the door panel. Sound quality is much nicer now! =)

Johnnysshop says:

5 1/4 or 6 1/2 with a adapter plate they sell at Crutchfield

thegreatdeerhunter says:

i just got a 1997 chevy silverado, do you have any idea of the speaker size in the doors?

Charlie Ross says:

i helped my friend out new speakers in his dodge neon and the wire colors where, blue and purple, and plue and orange..We Figured it out..but really

Johnnysshop says:

Should be 4×6 in the doors and 6×9 in the rear deck if it’s a coupe.

babyscorpio100 says:

hey do you know what size speakers are in a 2001 pontiac grand am se??

Johnnysshop says:

@jaybee15100 Yeah, my stepdaughter. My wife has 4 years on me so I have older kiddos.

Johnnysshop says:

Usually they can be removed but typically what you run into is they are really close to the door glass. Sometimes, not all the time, a 4×6 will only work because of the depth. 6.5 are deeper and may interfear with your window.
