Hmm.. Might have a 2.4 litre?
I have a 98 sunfire gt but the engine layout looks different than this. There’s something else on the front section and it’s over the alternator making it really hard to reach
Wish I knew but we sold the car awhile back. I would call a GM dealer they should be able to tell you the exact size or may even have the bolt in stock.
Hey, i know you posted this video a long time ago, but i’ve just changed my alternator of my pontiac sunfire 2000 but i loose a screw… the one on the right side… I really need to know the exact size of it.. i don’t know if someone can help me ?
Good luck
Gonna try this with my Vibe tomorrow. Thanks man
True but I’ve had one instance and that didn’t work.
or u can test the alt by starting the car then tak the positive off the batt and if the car dies the alt is bad
Should have a square in the center of it so something like a ratchet will fit in. Also should be the only pulley not attached to something (others will run AC, water pump, etc..)
Can’t find the diagram which will tell me which “wheel” will relieve the tension for the serpentine belt.
Just take your time, it will be fine.
Alright, the “never before attempted to fix anything on his car” guy is going to try and pull this off, literally, on his grand am.
Yep. LOL
is that a dentist cair?
Sweet!
It worked perfectly and was one of the quickest swaps I’ve done. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching! How did it turn out?
Thanks for the informative video. I’m going to be doing this on my 99 sunfire tomorrow morning as my alt just died!
LOL.. No, just less time I have to spending scrubbing the crap outta my hands. If I were a mechanic for a living I wouldn’t care as much..
are you scared to get dirty or what
Thanks for watching!
git-r-done… thanks man
Thanks, I appreciate the positive feedback!
They made it .1 mm to skinny to put the socket in there =/ Guess I’m gonna have to buy a skinnier one.
Thanks for the vids, I’m only 18 and it’s extremely hard to learn this stuff on my own
@hp304w Thanks I appreciate it! I try my best…
