Normally those are either held in with screws on the front face, rear of the housing, or even with just a clip that needs to be pushed in a certain position.
What about the lights on the rear bumper? Would it use the same method on a 00 sunfire?
Very helpful thanks a lot for all the videos.
It might be an issue with the socket or possibly even the wiring. Testing the socket for power will be necessary at this point to determine what is going on.
i replaced the bulbs but my tailights still wont work. any ideas?

Great help! I didn’t know the tail light had that bulb bracket… I need to do better research. I’ll probably replace the bulbs with LED’s!
You may want to call the company that you had ordered the part from. We carry these 99-06 Pontiac Grand AM taillights on our website 1aauto.com Part#1ALTP00290 They also come with a 3 year warranty on them.
nice video. I bought a new one off ebay (not from you) and the harness wont plus into the board. I have no problem putting the harnesss in the original board.
My car (Pontiac) Loves you and all your videos .. i have save a good amount of money and learned how to repair my own car. Thanks a million man.
@foxboy1618 If you’re looking to replace the broken clips, your local dealer can usually get them for you.
You may want to test the socket and the wire leading to it with a test light. This will tell you if the socket is the culprit.Hope this helps.
what about the rear license plate light? I think the cord is bad, how do i replace it?
THANK YOU!!!
I was having a difficult time figuring out how to access my brake lights but you made it easy!
Rather than a junkyard part you might want to try a new, affordable, aftermarket part from 1A Auto dot com 🙂
thanks for this video… now I can fix my girl’s car with a junkyard part, and not have to haul around tools! It’s too cold out. lol
