Rhiannon Gajecki says:

I took my 2007 Grand Prix to the dealership two years ago about this light
being out and they wanted $320 to fix this!!! Thanks to you, $2 and 15
minutes later, DONE!!!! Thank you so, so much : ) I used a screwdriver to
pry the back up and came right up. Not sure if you could take out the
screws at bottom of middle counsel to reach those brackets but it was
easier just popping them up 🙂

BRICEN18 says:

Glad it helped you out!! $320 Holy. I guess thats why they call them
stealerships.

james cowan says:

so how did you get the back lose ?

james cowan says:

yeah I read it .what are you saying help my self ?

BRICEN18 says:

Glad you figured it out! I will input that there are 2 clips underneath in
the description. Did you have any marring on the plastic or anything from
the wrench?

BRICEN18 says:

It has been awhile since ireplaced this bulb. But once the bolts are out,
and electrical unplugged pull straight up. Open the console lid and grab
the sides then pull up. Let me know if there is a trick to this and i will
imput that info here thanks

james cowan says:

After jerking on the dang thing for 15 minutes I stuck and an open end
wrench under the back of console and pulled up. it popped right up from the
two clips holding it in place. Very easy…Thank you

BRICEN18 says:

Did you read the description??? Most of the time it helps, to help yourself!

james cowan says:

Just how does the back of console come lose ? It doesn’t do like the video
just coming out so easy.06 grand prix

james cowan says:

Yeah I helped myself by pulling up with a wrench under back of console
.popped right up from 2 clips holding it down.

james cowan says:

No damage to plastic .I guess one could find something else to pry up with
. I just used the wrench because it was handy . It is easy to pop it lose
by very little effort with prying it up .I ha no luck jerking up on it .The
wrench took 2 seconds.

BRICEN18 says:

I Meant to help you’re self with the info thats available to you. The
answer to your question was in the description. With a quick read you would
have had the answer.

BRICEN18 says:

From DMACKD mcdavid comment below: Hey I eventually got it to pull up. I
wasn’t pulling up on it hard enough for it to pop out. but Im good to go
now. got the bulb replaced with no problem Thanks!

james cowan says:

Instead of doing all the jerking up on console and sweating and cussing
just stick an open end wrench under back of console and pull up it pops
right off the clip in back……Thank you……..

BRICEN18 says:

thanks, what is a yaw sensor ??

BeaversAreInsane says:

Thanks, helped me…will be doing this today.

GMfanatic says:

no CEL just my traction control light. in the Driver Info Center it says
Stability control off/ Trac off. Service Stability control and Traction
control. I thought it was a speed sensor. So I pulled out my OTC 9450. And
it pulled c0197 which is yaw sensor not in range or something. It doesn’t
affect my driving car starts and operates fine, but when I floor my GXP
thats when everything goes crazy with tire grip or lack there off.

BRICEN18 says:

I think it is lit all the time, and not be visible due to day light. But it
may turn on with the headlights. I checked the bulb by turning the key on
before I put it back together.

GMfanatic says:

Its a sensor that cost almost $300 and its for the stability control. Its
placed in the center of the vehicle to judge roll of the body. Center of
the car would be around the shifter, lol.

BRICEN18 says:

glad you got it ,sorry i didnt respond sooner!

BRICEN18 says:

Thanks glad i could help. At first i started tearing apart the entire
center console and then found those 4 bolts. Figured it would help Thanks
Again!

UrMomsHusband says:

The only problem I had was pulling the center console off. That took 3 days
to just build of enough balls to say if I break it then oh well. Then I
replaced the light, but when I started the car I didn’t see any light
showing. Is it because its very bright out/does it need to be dark out?

UrMomsHusband says:

You wouldn’t believe how long it took me for to find a video for this lol.
Don’t know why it took so long but glad I did. My light went out on me in
my 06 Grand Prix GXP, and then my girlfriends went out on her in her 08
Grand Prix. So we both needed them changed. Thanks

BRICEN18 says:

Did you unhook the electrical connection shown at 0:40 ? that is the only
thing that i can think of that would limit you from removing the console.
My base model doesn’t have the AUX jack so there may be something else
required for that. hope this helps good luck!!

UrMomsHusband says:

I figured it out. It only shows up during night hours.

Tim Sawyer says:

Thank you, very helpful.

BRICEN18 says:

No problem! Glad it helped you out. i couldn’t find any info either which
made me make the vid!

BRICEN18 says:

Did you get a check engine light of any sort? what were the symptoms of
this sensor being bad? Just wondering, its always good to know about cause
and affect of bad sensors. Thanks

Neal Veen says:

Thanks used this today. Just to add it is a 194 bulb that needs to be
replaced. It is the same as the licence plate bulb.

Rusty Jessee says:

Great video! I have an ’06 GP that I need to check both cigarette lighters/
accessory jacks for a short. I took the 4 screws out, but the console won’t
pop out. What am I missing? Is there an easier way to take the cigarette
lighters/accessory jacks out than removing the entire console?

BRICEN18 says:

No Problem glad it helped you.

GMfanatic says:

Good video, I have to replace a yaw sensor which is located underneath the
center console.

BRICEN18 says:

EDIT: it is only on when the headlights are on. it shut off when the
headlights turned off.

purplerabbit23bv says:

Awesome! Been looking for a video for this for a long time thanks
