My father and I just read the same error code and couldn’t find a website that would explain the problem without creating accounts or paying for some membership. We would like to convey our gratitude for you taking the time to show in a video how to check the problem and possible solutions, when we took out the sensor it came out in two pieces. You saved us a lot of time and money with a simple video, instead of running around to mechanics and auto parts stores. Thank you so much.

That’s a good, practical review. It would be cool to scope the output, but I agree with your plan to save some time and just change out the sensor.
One of the reasons I like old cars is they keep you busy with interesting challenges, like the occasional sensor failure shown here.

Great video, but just a correction to your description, the 3.8s also have a Mass Air Flow Sensor along with the one you are repairing.
Now you get into a lot of work. I don’t have a service manual for this car and this cable runs and hides with dozens of others, including connectors which can change wire colors. Given the basic mechanic issues with MAP sensors, it’s not an easy life, and that on the front, the wires do not seem compromised…including they show voltage in the same state the engine doesn’t see it. Labor-wise, changing the sensor is next.
Did you think of plugging it all in, and running the engine, and backprobing all 3 wires?
