Our key looks the same but is different inside. You need to take out the circuit board to slide the battery out.

Hi changin the battery will not require to recode the key will it?

Ps… Use a plastic phone opening tool to pop open the fob. This avoids tearing up the plastic fob.

If your fob is a bit battered and hard to open, take a broad flat bladed screwdriver and use a small hammer to tap it into the join adjacent to the slot that this video talks about. Use caution with the force of the hammer! The fob will pop open and can be then opened as shown in the video.

Ideally, then replace the fob with new (get one off of eBay). Follow instructions to swap over key blade as per other videos on YouTube. Easy task.

If you're key fob doesn't work after replacing the battery, check the connections are okay. Look for two small gold coloured flat patches on the circuit board. These will be on the reverse side to the micro switches (i.e the side you can see when you open the fob up and haven't taken the circuit board right out).

Using the end of a small screwdriver, gently scratch at the gold patches to clean them. Try not to damage the green plastic around them, although a few small scratches won't matter. You're just trying to expose fresh metal from the gold connectors, not remove then completely! If in doubt, remember that you can always come back and scratch some more, but you can't put back what isn't there anymore because you over did it!

You can do something similar to clean the other silver / chrome coloured battery contacts using a nail file or sand paper.

Once you're done, give the circuit board a gentle wipe over with a soft cloth.

Resemble the key fob and check the operation on your car. In my experience, I've not needed to worry about resynchronization of the key with the central locking system, but there are instructions on your handbook on this is done if necessary.

Good luck!
