The fork type as my local factors didnt have the other type. Ill have to
pick one up from halfords or something. Ill get tracking done at a garage
as soon as i can then thanks
Them balljoint splitters can indeed damage the track rod end, what type did
you use? the fork type or one that pushes the track rod end out? I still
would advise getting the wheels aligned on one of them laser alignment
machines, then the wheels are set up right and will not wear prematurely
I damaged the old track rod end with the ball joint splitter so got a new
one anyway. I kept adjusting the the track rod end on the drivers side til
the drivers side wheel was straight and the steering wheel was centre.
Yep, use a bit of tippex or similar to mark the old track rod ends
position, and also count how many threads that it came off, and try and get
it back in the same position. Then get the wheels aligned by a professional
as soon as possible, to avoid it pulling to one side or cutting through the
tyres. You might not need a track rod end, the alignment could just be off.
I had a front wheel bearing replaced and I put a new wishbone in on the
right hand side front of my 206. But now the tracking is way out and the
steering wheel is to the left. Fitting a new track rod end on the drivers
side today. Should I make sure the new track rod end has the same amount of
threads left on it than the left hand side, Should this even it out again?
Thanks for the encouraging comment.
You have such great videos!! As an 406 owner my self, I’m learning alot. I
rhighly appreciate your effort!
The calliper is easy to remove if you have brake line spanners undo the
brake hose nut going to the calliper but you need to clamp the brake hose
and bleed out the new calliper once its fitted. But how do you know if the
whole system is full of rust, are the callipers seizing? Ill see what i can
do with the breaker 406 to see if i can make some sort of calliper change
video on it, without actually buying a new calliper.
Im in the uk here and never seen stainless steel backplates, and any that
did appear on ebay were for the cars with rear drum brakes, the peugeot
dealer was my only option also. But to be honest i think the rear drum
brakes are better than the disk/drum setup in my car, the handbrake on them
are much stronger and the backplates made of much thicker steel
I do have some questions? Can you please make a more specific video on how
to change the whole calliper. My whole system is full of oxid(rust) and I
think I should change everything but I don’t know how to change the the
whole calliper and the cilinder. Thanks in advance
I searched on internet for the backplates and I found on ebay they made it
stainless steal but only in UK, in my country I can not find it and I think
I will have to go to a peugeot dealer.
Thank you very much for the kind comment, im happy to hear the video is
helping
I just finished of watching this amazing video and from 10 points u have 10
10/10. Excellent. I’m learning a lot!!!!!
Ohhhh Dear – why did u make this video so short – many parts for us newbies
is missing – great video tho.
I shorten down (or speed up) the boring bits such as nuts and bolts being
undone. Although at the end i say reinstall a number of things (handbrake
cable, shoes etc) the handbrake cable goes back in easy enough but the
shoes i find are impossible to do with the camera in the way. However i
have purchased a 406 for spares and do plan to make a video just on taking
apart and putting in brake shoes.
