its good to have that warranty, only thing that sucks is the time
installing the parts which will fail again, Have fun lol .

mrgtp3800 says:

Aww i forgot i had lifetime warranty on them as well! Ill be making a trip
down to oreillys tomorrow lol ill try to find the solid mount

mrgtp3800 says:

I’ve replaced the mount and cv joints 3 times already and the problem keeps
happening I’m tired of it but its a pain to replace the oil pan, was hoping
there was a quick fix. It’s not a major leak just enough to screw up the
mount.

RaysFabShop says:

I would go for the solid engine mount , You might find it on ebay I tried
getting the part number for you but stupid autozone doesn’t carry the solid
mount anymore.

RaysFabShop says:

The same thing just happened to me and I just replaced the motor mount
about a year ago, the problem is that gm uses hydraulic or oil filled motor
mounts, once the oil leaks out it will give the impression that the oil pan
is leaking when its really the motor mount( in my case). When the engine
sags the cv shaft on the transmission end starts hitting or wobbling on the
subframe which tears up the boot and the rest goes to hell.

RaysFabShop says:

I will be replacing the mount and cv shaft since I got lifetime warranty on
them from autozone so the only thing its going to cost me is time which
will probably take all darn day and getting my suit full of crap, I will
post a video of the process soon since I have to replace both parts.

mrgtp3800 says:

Can someone please help me, i noticed that the engine mount cradle collects
oil on my gtp and after about 4 months the mount deteriorates and the motor
sinks in and the cv joint goes out. is there any quick fix other than
replacing the oil pan to stop oil from seeping in the cradle and ruining
the engine mount?

Bren52710 says:

i want to know a lil more about having to reprogram after changing the
sensor. Please Thanks

prix98go says:

Its funny I see this because my RPM hand also dies when my car acts up. I
just found out I need to replace the same sensor, but before my car shuts
off while im driving, the TCS (traction control) light turns on and the rpm
hand dies, then my car shuts off, weird!!! If not vise versa, the car shuts
off and then the rpm hand dies and tcs light comes on!!! I also have a 2000
GTP…

smazz104 says:

good Job Ray, Can I ask you about what signs you got that let you know it
was your CPS? I know I have had to replace 2 on two different Pontiac GPs
3800 and neither time did it give a code. I now have a similar problem on
the car I already replaced the CPS on but its acting diff than the last
time. Its just “shutting off” but i dont get the random RPMs going crazy
like last time. Any words of wisdom? Ive checked just about everything
else. Fuel pressure, Coil pack and Module but coming up blank

Chad Laehr says:

thanks for the help saved a lot of work for me the car 2004 bonneville

showout to all 3.8L engine owners!!!!

smazz104 says:

btw, the 2 previous GM 3.8s I replaced crank position sensors on never had
a case learn on them and they went years with no problem so I been told the
case learn is really for older cars with the older style ECM.

I get to do this tomorrow, Instead of your special bar with the 2 studs to
hold the pulley, I went Hillbilly with an old lawnmower blade. I drilled a
hole for a cable clamp to the 2nd bolt. It allows clearance for my ratchet
and didn’t a custom tool. Thx Xclnt Job!

Jeff Armer says:

Did you find your problem ? If not, you could have a vacuum leak…

Amanda Taaid says:

The video was great thaks, but i have a question for you. Have troublw with
my 04 Grand Prix GTP, keep getting a P0300 miss fire. I ahve replaced the
spark plugs, wires, checked the Ing Control Mod, replaced the coils a year
ago. But the car still runs like crap where shuld I go now?

shout out to Pontiac guys.

Tav Tavv says:

Thanks dude. I’m in the process of rebuilding my L67 with forged pistons, H
rods etc and was having issues pulling the balancer off the motor to get to
the cam… with your video I managed to get the right bolts and thread them
into the balancer & take it off. Great video!

John Burnett says:

It worked for my regal ls made my own holder wasn’t to hard just need time.

MrFlyguy217 says:

Great video dude*** I even made the special tool. This work on my 01
Impala.Same engine and set up.Thanks Dude***

I’m having the exact problem with my crank sensor on my ’94 Buick Park
Avenue. I’ve read that you have to use a special alignment tool to install
the crank sensor on certain model years. What year is your GTP?

MegaPorsche912 says:

Good video . Thanks

Eric HandymanAuto says:

Many thanks for taking the time to record and share this video. Kudos to
you. Btw, torque specifications for the GM 3.8L 231cid V6 engine can be
found at the torkspec website.

JohnBoy Thomas says:

Dude,You are awesome,I just bought a buick lesabre for 500 bucks and have
it running like a champ for only 24 dollars in parts,THANKS TO YOU AND
TAKING THE TIME OUT TO MAKE THIS VIDEO!!

Steven Sapyak says:

Very good tutorial on exactly what I am currently doing on a 99 Buick Park
Ave. Ultra. If I may suggest, use Grade 8 washers, they do not bend like
the lower grade type.

HUBBABUBBA DOOPYDOOP says:

I’ve worked on my own cars for 30+ years now- and I personally think your
creation/fabrication of this tool is wonderful! I would make the handle
portion at least 24″ long- to brace against the frame, and not the
sheetmetal of the fender. I believe this tool- could also be fashioned from
a 2″ x 4″ x 24″ length of wood. It would probably handle the torque
involved. Thanks again- and you should seriously consider marketing this
tool idea to an Automotive Toolmaker- such as Dorman!

Steven Sapyak says:

The actual thread in the harmonic balancer for the puller is : M6 X 1.0 X
70,80,or 90mm. Use grade 8 washers.

Rob Bozich says:

you did a great job on how to repair cars and its been awhile I did this
kinda work on my car and my memory kinda went out the window..lol I want to
thank you for taking time to fix a car..you should do video on how to
repair cars for a living.. thank you..

pontiac871 says:

Will the rpm hand not work with a bad crank sensor on a 00 gp gtp?

Kartoon313 says:

Thanks for the vid, didn’t use home made bar just used the same size bolts n
long pry bar ( like u would use to take a wheel bearing nut off w the lugs)
but I really appreciate the 1/4 28 thread bolts saved mylife bro, thanks
