Would a bad thermostat cause a minor coolant leak?I think mine is stuck
partially open,Engine temp is fine.

Another symptom of a thermostat stuck closed is the lack of money you will

gaskets.

i have a 2001 monte carlo ss and the fans are staying on after the car is
off for about 5 min, ive read and researched a lot about it and all things
lead to the thermostat? is that correct?? the temp gauge doesnt register
anything either!

Slevin Klevra says:

oil flow.. sorry about that. Ive got an oil leak on my car that im trying
to fix. Anyway. If your radiator cap isnt getting hot, then your water pump
might be bad or going bad. Coolant isn’t circulating properly. Hope that
helps.

Young Fletch says:

thanks for the video. A lot of what you are saying is exactly whats
happening…my car isnt blowing any heat at all…i just put a radiator
sealant in my radiator on top of that found out my head gasket is possibly
blown or cracked. What would you advise? I have a head gasket treatment for
my 2002 dodge durango with a 4.7

Nathan, thank you for sharing your knowledge. You are very informative. You
did a great job explaining the failures of thermostats.

Hecter Plasmic says:

Thank you, friend 🙂

solinjar says:

so does that overheat the engine much or just a little??

billtimore says:

i think my thermostat is failed open. i did the obd1 check with a paper
clip because the ses light was on and the code was for low temp/coolant
temp. ever since i bought my car, the heat never gets hot. question, since
its winter and normally around 20 degrees here when i leave for work, is it
dangerous to drive my car without getting the thermostat changed? also,
could the open thermostat be the reason why i have to crank my car like
five times just to start my car, in addtion wih spark plug

NWB1989 says:

About the brands of thermostats, which one would be best to recommend?
