Sorry but, a little wider angle on the video May have at least shown the
general area in which you were working, for those of us Less familiar,, but
Thanks Anyway !
all i got to say they are asshole for putting electronic inside a
transmission folks should buy a car that is a stick shift they last longer
and easy to change the oil do it every 5 thousand the trans will last along
time
My 02 silverado was shifting hard 1st to 2nd and i changed the solenoids
and checked the accumulator spring. All looked well but after driving it
there was NO FIX. Good luck our there guys.
i have a 1997 gmc sierra and the transmission wont shift out of second
gear. i have done a diagnostic scan and the shift solenoid code popped up.
blackandgold51 in your comment you described exactly what my truck is
doing. do you take the transmission apart to get to the shift solenoid?
I have a 1999 olds intrigue transmission won’t shift into 4th what can I do
to fix it myself. I know there is some solenoid’s but where are they
located?
@Silas Miller I have a 1990 GMC Suburban SLE V1500 with transmission
problems. It cannot shift from 2nd gear. @Sila One day when I was driving I
stopped at a stop light, and when I drove the transmission for some unknown
reason started to not shift from 2 gear. It can drive still but it cannot
jump from 2nd gear to 3rd and 4th. Also, this truck is a 4wheel drive.
Hi, don’t know if u can pretty much help with this as well, I got a Lexus
ES300 2002 and now have a code P1815 (Transmission Solenoid Open
Circuit/Short Circuit to Ground on the CEL. What can I do please.
would this fix a problem with my 1999 chevy blazer when i do 70-75 with a
cold tranny it will run at normal rpm but once it warms up it will run at
3100 rpm doing 70 75 what are your thoughts
@Yayington I dont understand the torque converter if it locked or not. now
when i hit the gas the trans vibrates , and it wont shift to 4th even in
normal driving.
@joepinder2000 Unfortunately, no. Possibly if gear sets were replaced,
There would be some. But most rebuilds reuse sprags, and gear sets. Just
replacing clutch packs and seals. But regardless, that is a worrisome
amount of metal. Any abnormal reverse behavior? any noises in OD or D
position? Any abnormal noises when shifting into low? Any details help, but
I’m afraid it doesn’t sound good.
@evils1z28 Has any work been done to the car recently? Say when the problem
started? A mis adjusted shift linkage could cause you to think you’re in
OD, but in fact in the 3 position. Try finding an open road, and start from
a stop with the gear selector in 1. Shift up one gear position at a time as
you accelerate and confirm that 4th isn’t there for sure. What you describe
as ‘Shuddering” sounds torque converter related.
Weasel: A shudder condition is more often than not an issue with the torque
converter. I’m a little suprised that it only happens in reverse, and it
would make me think of a potential cross leak in the valvebody between the
reverse, and TCC (Torque converter clutch) hydraulic circuits. Considering
the problem goes away when you remove power to the transmission however,
I’d suspect a faulty TCC solenoid, or possibly a wiring issue. It’s a bit
of work just for a test, (Cont.)
I have an 05 Avalanche with the 4l60e. When cruising between 1500 and 1700
RPMs the RPMs surge. Could it be a possible effect of having a bad torque
convertor clutch solenoid?
i have a 94 c 1500 and had the trans rebuilt and now it shifts to 3rd by 15
mph and if i put it in manual 1st it will shift to 2nd, but if i unplug the
DRAC or the vss it will hold manual 1st and 2nd but has no 3rd or 4th.
please help
@Yayington I just agradesco your support so I saw another solenoid that
will not change the wiring does not believe that either since pcm 30min
journey. normal change se lo puedo escribir en español y usted lo traduce

@joepinder2000 Unlikely. especially the bang you mention, sounds like the
sprag slipping. Check the fluid for metal contamination. The magnet in the
pan may well have picked any or all of it up, so you may have to drop the
pan. Otherwise, look for any metallic substance on the dipstick.

Does every car Transmission shift solenoid look the same? I have a ford
fusion 2007 4 cyl 2.3 i got a code of p0757 and i need this car fixed so i
can go to work. could you tell me where i can get the shift solenoid.
Because i asked the orileys guy and he said he needs to know the part
number…. so i am confused i thought they were all called shift solenoid.
I am not sure if this is whats wrong with my 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan.
It will not go more than 3 rpms and it will not shift from third to high
gear. My son checked the trans fluid and he said it looks like it is
bubbling on the dipstick.
@hpjunky70 I’m not sure what you’re throwing out here for people to chew
on? I also have no idea what gave you the idea to send me that last email
which felt very hostile, and a bit insulting coming from a stranger who
moments ago asked for help with a problem. Let people chew on that. You are
saying the 4l60e and the 700r4 are the same transmission, and yet you point
out the largest difference. The 4l60e is only vaguely similar to the 700r4
(Which is also called the 4l60)
@fattpieceofcrap I’m afraid that won’t solve your issue. Your transmission
is in what is called ‘limp home’ mode. A failsafe feature to let you drive
on what the cars’ systems deem a ‘critical fault’. Possible causes range
from the transmission losing it’s main electrical power source. Engine
misfires, or engine related sensor failure. In some cases the PCM itself
can be at fault. Get the codes checked on it and make sure the engine is
running properly first.
Weasel: (Cont.) but you can drop the pan, and unplug the TCC solenoid. Test
drive the vehicle with that unplugged, and if the issue is gone, then you
can narrow the issue down to an electronic issue. But first, drop the pan,
and with the key on, engine off, and the vehicle (Properly supported of
course. Set the P-Brake!) in reverse, use an ohmmeter and test the TCC
solenoid circuit for a short to ground. and compare the readings to other
gear ranges. There should always be infinite ohms.
Very informative! Just wondering if this would help me. I have a 1997
Cadillac Deville with the Northstar 4.6. 188k on it and it drives and rides
great but, It doesn’t shift gears. Go figure.I put it in drive and go. It
never shifts out of first. I dont drive more than 45 mph ( I only drive
about 20 miles a day). I drive to and from work and around town sometimes.
Reverse works fine. No problems with shaking or vibration. Sooooo…. Could
this be the problem?
@joepinder2000 The pickup has nothing to do with this issue. Your issue is
not fluid starvation. For 40k miles that much metal shaving seems unusual.
There will always be some, but that’s quite a bit. Whn the sprag gives,
generally there is no chunks lost, but just an excessive amount of
shavings. Better yet, if you can get the filter out and cut the casing
open, you can see just how much metal has missed the magnet.
Greetings! I have a 2004 f250 XLT Super Duty V10, and recently my truck
would drive and shift flawlessly from 1st to 2nd just fine, but for some
reason it would shift into 3rd or 4th gear, also my over drive button is
flashing, what could be the problem? I did some research and read many
forums and thinking that the shift solenoid could be a possibility. Thanks
in advance for any help!
@TheKnightwalk3r Best bet is a dealership for the solenoids. In this
transmission the solenoids are universal, for 1-2 and 2-3. I’m not sure
about an Astro, and what transmission it uses. To jump the solenoid, simply
unplug it, and run one wire from a 12V source (Battery) to terminal A of
the solenoid. And another wire to terminal B. Ground the terminal B wire,
and it will engage the solenoid. Use the factory wire colors to find
Terminal A and B. The neutral color wire, is terminal B.
@rapsag1974 Are you saying as it warms up it slips going into third? The
most common failure in these transmissions, is the 2-3 clutch packs burning
up. Solenoids won’t cause a slipping issue. But if the 2-3 sloenoid were
bad, the transmission may act like it doesn’t want to go into third, rather
it will just stay in second.
@Yayington I have dropped the pain, there was a nice thick collection of
really fine metal dust on the magnet, it was so fine that it mixed with the
tranny fluid and mad a silver magnetic sludge. It was built up maybe an
1/8th inch thick on top of the magnet. There was no large chunks at all,
just the metal dust. This tranny is a rebuild w/ about 40,000 miles
more on topic… when I start the van and take off for the first time it
seem to do as its supposed to till I come to a stop then back to the
problem. if I shift manually it does a lot better but never seems to shift
down to 1st like it stops at 2nd but shifts normally as I shift it through
the gears when driving. also can I replace the solenoids from under the van
so I don’t have to pull trans and would you recommend changing filter while
there? thanks for the help.

WHAT IF IT DOES’NT MOVE AT ALL? ( no reverse, drive, automatic) AND YES, IT
