Transmission repair: Fixing the Nissan and Giving it Away.

Transmission repair: Fixing the Nissan and Giving it Away.

This Nissan Rogue was donated to me, but it needed a new transmission which is a BIG JOB! I decided that it would be cool to fix it and give it to a person graduating high school that could use a hand getting started in life. I appealed to my AWESOME audience to help me pay for the parts, and you guys donated WAY MORE than I was expecting. Thank you!! So I bought the parts, fixed everything up, and found a deserving winner of this car. I’m humbled and honored to be able to do this, made possible by my patrons and so many people who made one time contributions to the cause. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

Fam Pic says:

Hey did you torque the front wheel bearings? I've only seen you tighten it with the impact but some cars require over 300nm to get it to spec.

Amiel Neis says:

that is how the world should be. you inspire me John..I hope i can be like you even at 10%.

Aravind Reddy says:

Awesome John u have done a great job.

glenn moreland says:

It's as well you got her something she could fit in…

Peter Eriksson says:

Great work for a great cause. I was always taught that you need to hold the torque wrench on the handle of it, otherwise you will not get the set torque. I haven't tested myself what the difference would be, but it might be some logic behind it, so I follow that rule.

Michael Mantion says:

throwing good money after bad. Sorry but i would rather you buy a rx300 and fixing it up, would have cost less than that crappy transmission.

Jan Sanchez says:

Nice job dude

mario cardamone says:

your a good man

Alonzo Sanchez says:

You're a good man brother, thank you for being the example of what we need in this world

TEP3 says:

If she can get another 150k that's cool, but if you were in there it really needed a transmission cooler. Nissan should be sued for everyone on the road without one

MrPensiveThinker says:

Haven’t teared up in a while!

Joshua mast says:

Your very right about in rural areas if you don’t have a car you can’t get a job

Joshua mast says:

There is aftermarket fluid kind of idemitsu makes Nissan CVT fluid so you can just buy idemitsu brand fluid it’s basically the same stuff

Daniel Doss says:

Way to go! Those Nissans have good engines but those Jatco transmissions are their short fall. I drove a 1991 Maxima to over 300,000 miles. I was on it's 3rd transmission. I got a lot of tips watching you do this (I currently drive a 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo). It too has a CVT. It's got 87,000 on it now. I've changed the fluid out at 40,000. Hopefully, with regular maintenance, I won't have any problems. Really enjoyed the two part series. Wish her all the best with her car, thanks to you!

John Federkeil says:

Nice job John!

Ian Marlowe says:

Great work!!!

Andy Plater says:

Probably beyond economic repair which is a shame to add another one to landfill/scrap, so glad everyone could come together on this one
