Code 1447 is strictly used for emission purposes only. It wouldn’t cause a slow crank. Are you sure the battery has enough voltage? If you have a multimeter, test the battery for at least 12v when the vehicle is off. You can also go to your local auto part supplier and they’ll test your battery for free. Also check battery voltage once the car is running. Check my alternator video for instructions. It’s an easy test. Let me know what turns up.

Thank you for taking the time to show how to do this job it helped me so much .

CarsNToys says:

Yeah, I used the 300z as the opening scene in my early video’s. Cheers.

Ranma Sautomi says:

In the beginning showed a 300zx and said Maxima on top of it….lol. Great video though! Helped alot!

CarsNToys says:

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Elco.

ElcoMoyer says:

It was the flywheel. Very pricy to get done professionally.

CarsNToys says:

How does the steering feel?

ElcoMoyer says:

Great video. I’m having a repeated knocking sound when I start my 95 maxima after long periods of time. It stops when I put it in drive. My power steering cooling line busted in an accident awhile back ago and has since been replaced but I still get the knocking sound. My mechanic guy says it the result of the power steering pump not having the fluid to feed off of. What I want to know is, is it my power steering pump that is causing this knocking noise?

CarsNToys says:

Yes. Take another look at the video. At 7:05 into the video I explain and show you need a 12mm wrench to loosen the locking nut before you can back off the belt tensioner.

Brian X says:

Yes, there is the 12mm bolt that titens the belt tentioner, and there is a bolt on the back of the pump itself, don’t you have to losen that bolt first before youn can losen the belt using the tentioner.

CarsNToys says:

Hi BrianX. Do you mean the 12mm locking nut that must be loosened before you can remove the power steering belt?

Brian X says:

I have a 96 maxima, you have to lossen up the blot on the back off the power steering pump then loosen up the 12mm bolt on the side, you mentioned nothing of that in your instruction. is the 96 and 97 different.

CarsNToys says:

Good stuff Bahai111. Glad it worked out

Errol Dillon says:

I just did my 96 Infiniti, it’s the same as your Nissan Maxima. The front lock bolt would have been easier with an offset 12mm. I was struggling with a regular wrench. I have a set of ratcheting wrenches. I have a offset 14mm and it would have been nice if I had a 12mm. That back lock bolt behind the ps pump was tight as I’ve ever seen it!!! WOW If anyone can change these belts out, they are great!!! Thanks to your video I didn’t give up. Your video was my driving force to keep going. Thanks!!!

CarsNToys says:

It could be from a leaking pump or the rear valve cover may need to be changed.

pajokard says:

Great video! I’ll try to do it myself on my 2001 maxima next week. I hope I can do it in 1 day or less without any major problem. Thanks a lot and God bless!

jwtraining1 says:

i saw oil on the exhast manfold bolt studs, beside the power steering pump, when u was taking it off, does it come from a leaking or bad pump or is it the inner o-rings, becasue my pump stays wet and oil is on my exhast manfold studs

CarsNToys says:

Awesome! Glad to help. Cheers

Newlinjim says:

Thank you for the video Sir. I just did a 1997 Maxima using it for reference. I removed the high and low lines from the pump and when done just started the car and turned the wheels while on the ground to bleed the system, seemed to work fine that way.

Rogelio Salas says:

great bro
