I agree with dropping the pan because you also need to clean up the magnet that catched the metal shaving.

CarsNToys says:

No need to drop the pan. This car has a drain plug.

Shawn W says:

So you do have to drop the pan?

CarsNToys says:

Filter change isn’t required for this vehicle. (’97 Maxima)

thanks for showing this video now i know how many quarts of tranny fluid i need

CarsNToys says:

There are a number of things to check. Water pump, cooling fans, thermostat, leaking coolant, etc. I would start with the cooling fans and go from there.

CarsNToys says:

Hi Fadan. Is your check engine light on? How’s your tranny fluid look? Is it very dark in color?

Fadan Kagoma says:

CarsNToys says:

Hi Mackfar27. I didn’t drive the car and it was quite cool outside; so the ‘cold’ side was fine. You would use the ‘hot’ side of the dipstick if you drove around for a bit. (Temperature wise, 86 to 122 degrees fahrenheit the ‘cold’ side is used and 123 to 176 degrees fahrenheit the ‘hot’ side is used.) Thanks for commenting.

mackfar27 says:

So you fill this up, then check it on the cold side? I assume when driving it for the first time after the fluid change, you verify by checking the dipstick on the hot side?
