the leaf is a heavy car, on ICE cars its recomended to change the fluid every 2 years ,brake fluid is hygroscopic [ it draws water]
take 1 saucer of water and a saucer of brake fluid put them side by side and the water will migrate to the fluid after some hours ,

some may be tempted to buyfully synthetic fluid never do this for a road car its for race cars only the result is a spongy pedal, race car brakes work at very high temp and need synthetic road cars do not !

also if car has ABS you cant to the fluid in the ABS unit unless you have special diagnostic to open the valves,
a short cut is to take the car onto wet grass and put the brakes on a few times then go back and bleed them all ove again !

Just did it on my 2015 Leaf. No air bubbles, clean DOT3, but now the brake pedal travel is much more important, about 2 inches after a road test. Any idea? Is there something to be "resumed" on the electric brake booster? PS. I am having a lot of experiences on brakes, never had this problem before on gasoline or Diesel cars.

Just an FYI: Service manual for Leaf recommends bleeding in this order "rear right brake → front left brake → rear left brake →front right brake".

I can't say I will be doing this any time soon to my '12 because it was serviced top to bottom when I bought used but I do keep a check on the level and top it off all the time, just for the ones that don't know, your brakes wear they will take more fluid on the line to make up for the pad density loss over time its nothing to worry about just put some more fluid in. the fluid in mine is so clear I can see out the plastic when I take that filter off

nice video I have 2015 leaf and did the brake fluid flush
but started with the right rear expecting if it came out real clean I wound bother doing the rest for another 1 or 2 years. The fluid was cloudy and so I did all four wheels. The leaf is just turn 1 year old. I would suggest you may want to check the fluid sooner than 2 years, I live in Washington state but it has been a very dry year the car has 14,400 miles on it. Also it only took 3 hours.

Neil Mayo says:

thanks for the video, got a 2015, think I'll do this in a few years.
