The oil pan would become dented by your jack and block of wood ,IF you did
not disconnect the engine mount at the strut tower and the cross member
support mount.
Thanks to this video. I found the source of the pulleys noise and changed
my pulleys out. But do not jack the engine even with a piece of wood under
the pan. I got big dent and low oil pressure right after. I had to remove
the oil pan and hammered out the dent and low oil pressure never came back.
Jack from the edge like this video shown. Now, how do you fix the blowby
problem in this video. I have the same car. thanks
I have a 1999 Nissan Altima with exactly the same engine configuration and
having pulley bearing noise for about 1 month now. I replaced the belts
about 6 months ago but now the bearings are making noise. I’m about 2 hours
away from my house where my tools are, do you know i can make it home
without breaking down? If so what is the worst can happen? thank you.
do you have part 3 where you actually do the pulley replacement and other
stuffs? thanks
Blow by is normal, you can never have a perfect seal. Now too much blow by
now that’s a different story
i have a 99 nissan altima se limited and i was wondering how do i fix blow
by? and my car is also a little slow on take off so i was wondering if
there were some things i could check or fix to help the slugishness of the
car.
Piston rings in a small bore cylinder always have problem sealing up to a
tight curve circumference ring. A bigger bore(engine) is the answer,or keep
rebuild that jap/china junk.
No. Has mileage add up and hi-compression Air/fuel ratio burn into a white
flame it will change the tension on a small circumference piston ring to
even shrink more ,cause an increase in blow by. The thermal effect and wear
in the cylinder to ring will increase and so will blow by. Oil change is
very, very important to a 4 banger. very important a engine oil cooler will
help, once install when the engine is New.
my nissan blow air and oil how i can fix it or wat a ineed to change and
thankyou sr for ur information
If you haven’t found it yet, It is under the intake manifold. You will have
to take out a plug which will leak antifreeze and the PCV valve is right
below that plug. Check between the Power Steering pump and the Oil cap in
the opening between them. It was very difficult to get to. You will need
long set of needle nose pliers to get the clamp off if you need to replace
the hose. You will have to clean out the pipe with air and Carb. Cleaner.
The pcv valve is under the intake manifold on the passenger side. next to a
small cooling hose that runs through behind the engine.
i have a 95 altima with 85k miles i just test the blow by it have some oil
not as much as the one on the video is it even nnormal just to have some
blowing out or it not suspose to blow anything out ?
@chris96nissan Yea, you will have to rebuild.whats the mileage?.maintaining
a proper engine oil level is the only way to reduce blow-by cause by
worn-out piston rings.
No hard feeling. 4 cyl engine are econo-box not performing
art(performance). If you are looking for performance look at cars with V6
engine are not likely to see blow-up like 4 cyl, cause V6 feature larger
piston ring with more cylinder for even distribution of power making the
engine last longer that OVER-HARD Working 4 cyl engine.
Hey Steve, I wasn’t able to locate the pcv valve on my 2000 altima. I got
under the car, but I didn’t see it. Any advice to help me locate? Also, I
recently got an alignment, and it still shakes around 65 mph. What else
would I need to do to get a smooth ride (mounts or bent rims)?
@tsiskkkoj Find someone who is experience in head gasket repair. This engine
feature a aluminum cylinder head. careful cleaning the head gasket, make
sure the head and block is straight. You will need a complete upper gasket
kit from fel-pro,change engine oil and anti-freeze.
I know this video is a lil old but in case you didn’t know. Every modern
4cyl has this so called “blow by”. It is part of the crankcase ventilation
system. It is completely normal. And these kd24de engines did it just like
in your video right off the showroom floor. On older, larger engines it is
in fact blow by and is bad. If you notice when you unscrew the oil fill cap
it won’t blow off because the pcv system is working properly and it has
just as much vacuum as pressure so the cap just sits
@cmariscal69 Most Hard Parts can be re-use,except for friction
parts.Rebuilding an engine is surely rely on care-full inspection. The
cylinder walls must be hone with the correct stone so the piston ring will
seat itself seal to the wall. Most four stroke engine smaller than a 2.2
will experience blow-by due to a small circle of the piston rings. The small
ring is not strong enough or can`t maintain its tension along the cyl wall
during operation. So with time the blow-by will return on a rebuild.
hi Steve, i have 2002 altima, i wanted replace a headgasket, will be my
first time..what are your advices? also, what do you think of the problem
is ..my altima is burning oil. what needed to fix or replace?
@cheaterboy16 Try using BG fuel system products.Adding BG to the crankcase
oil will help de-carbon the internal of the engine.when you change the oil
add a bottle of BG oil stabilizer.replace the fuel filter, with a full tank
of fuel add a bottle of Lucas or BG fuel injector cleaner.inspect the
engine mounts.clean and replace the PCV and box, which is bolted to the rear
(under the intake manifold) of the engine block. rebuilding is not worth
it.follow the instruction on products
@SteveXnycperformance thanks for your help
Hi steve. I have a 94 nissan sentra 1.6 liter, 103,000 miles. I checked to
see if it has a blow by and it does. It’s exactly like you show in this
video. When i have the engine rebuilt should i replace all the pistons and
valve’s or just the bad ones?
Nissan Altima 2000 has the pcv valve is under the intake manifold on the
left side (passenger side) it’s pain the get to it. with out having to
remove the intake. if you get under the car above the oil filter you will
see a coolant water hose. next to it is the pcv valve it’s a pain the
change but have patience. good luck
True. And the reason is? . The bore(diameter) of the cylinder and its
piston rings are too small in circumference, Lacking the required tension
for the piston rings to seal properly against to the cylinder wall. THIS
WILL HAPPEN IN ALL 4 CYL (ECON-BOX) engine with a cubic-inch below 2.8
liter. Larger engine are better at sealing the piston rings to the cylinder
all, because of the large circle ring provide more tension than a small
engine piston rings. BIGGER IS BETTER.
i have a 96 nissan altima gxe 2.4 liter i jus fix the valve cover gasket
and the DISTRIBUTOR had oil in my DISTRIBUTOR but i no i have blow-by how
do u fix it do u got to take the hole engine apart
@SteveXnycperformance Thank you so much steve. I really appreciate you’re
great videos and your advice.
alot of 4 cylinders due this new
Its time to consult the shop manual at you local library and get inform
with the troubleshooting chapter.
