Good video, I’ll be changing mine this weekend on my 93. People, Make sure
to mark the drive shafts from the slip yoke and from the output of the
carrier bearing. Also try 5th gear to stop the shaft from spinning. Get a
few threads on that nut before goin at it with the ball ping. If you can’t
get a dent in the lock nut locktite will do. GL4 only in those FS5’s not
rear end fluid “GL5”. That is a negative.

Chris Anderson says:

Definitely the wrong fluid for the transmission. Like others have said, GL4
ONLY.
Good choices are Redline MT90 GL4 manual trans oil, Amsoil manual trans GL4
75w90, and Nissan sells a GL4 75w85 at the dealer.

I’ve owned 5 different Nissan trucks all with manual trannys ranging from
year 93 to 2012. I learned about the fluid the hard way when I first
installed the same 80w90 Dura blend in my 97 Hardbody.

loraine haley says:

Can anyone tell me if I need to spin the shaft to align it before I tighten
it all back down?

Dan Breton says:

I SEEN A LOT OF YOUTUBE VID’S AN YOURS WAS ONE OF THE BEST RIGHT TO THE
POINT VERY HELPFULL THANKS

William CRAZY LACY Furmage says:

Did the new bearing go back on without a special press.

99600F4 says:

how did you know that bearing was bad?

681cougar says:

u really don’t need to be giving advice.do a video about hitting to hammers
together. i like to see blood. and a toque wrench is not a breaker bar. but
since you don’t know the name of it, i guess you don’t know how to use
it… thanks DA

Jose Gomez says:

How do you remove the old barring?

Patrick Cashwell says:

The center nut is a lock nut, it has a lip that is bent into a slot on the
shaft. It would have came off easier if the dent in the nut were first
tapped out.

Spiegel420 says:

Lol of course its still spinning while in first gear. Its not attached to
the trans. Haha. Good vid.

TheGhettomonsta says:

Thanks I have a 97 Nissan I may have a similar problem this was a great
video.

Gabriel Vidaurri says:

I cant remember, but the parts store should tell you what type your truck
uses.

Gabriel Vidaurri says:

Physically move the drive shaft around if it wiggles then yes you have a
bad carrier bearing.

edgarshoe says:

did you have any issues after your installation? thanks for the video.

giantAsFan says:

Good video I have a 95 Tacoma 2.4 & I think this may be the problem,I just
want to know is there a way to test the carrier bearing to see if it’s good
or bad,before I replace it

BriggsMower says:

no problems

BriggsMower says:

the way in the video is alright but i would use a breaker bar to remove the
nut and a flywheel or gear puller to take the bearing off the shaft you rip
the rubber off and attach the jaws to the lip on the bearing and tighten
the tool and tighten the nut to about 157 newton meters of torque or very
tight.

22favila says:

when I have my foot in the gas it squeals all through the time I hold down
the gas is it my driveshaft carrier?? or the df is hitting my transmission??

coffeefish says:

Is the tranny oil GL4 or GL5?

bloodseedrums says:

GL4 ONLY DO NOT use GL5

Gabriel Vidaurri says:

This was my first time doing a carrier bearing replacement, but thanks for
the info your right!

cadillacdude1975 says:

the nissan hardbody manual transmission is a GL4 lubricant. anything else
will cause a failure. it must be GL4. period.

edgarshoe says:

can you elaborate? or suggest the proper way? i am about to do this
procedure next week. same thing happened to my ’95. thanks.

coffeefish says:

Easy on the cap locks. That’s why I was asking.

coffeefish says:

That is what I thought, but it is not easy to find GL4, I had to have some
shipped to me.

Cody Trottier says:

I used 75-90 in mine. worked fine
