Nissan Altima Power Steering Pump Replace

Nissan Altima Power Steering Pump Replace

In addition to being a how to replace a part video, this is also a how not to diagnose a noise problem video as well, because I am assuming the noise is coming from the power steering pump because it sounds sooooo much like that noise, however I realize now I should have checked everything else I could before I condemned it.

Where did you get the return hose (the one from the reservoir to the pump)? Mine's leaking, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Also, the hoses under the fuse box and in front of the condenser are leaking too. I'm curious if I could just buy some bulk hose and cut it to the different lengths I need. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I am better off before trying out some repairs. I appreciate your being real and showing some of the mistakes that we make because we learn from them.

Bugzie Bird says:

good video and camera work, if there is a noise I like to spray the pulleys with lube and see if the noise goes away , this may help u to pinpoint things next time, also take 1 belt off at a time and see if the noise stops

thank you for leaving your trait and errors

Fernando Trevino says:

THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE BLED, THERE IS AIR IN THE SYSTEM. IF WHEN YOU OPEN THE CAPĀ AND HAPPENĀ TO SEE FOAM…THERE IN AIR TRAPPED IN THE SYSTEM. BEFORE STARTING THE VEHICLE AFTER A P/S REPLACEMENT IS BLEED THE SYSTEM, BY LIFTING THE TWO FRONT WHEELS OFF THE GROUND. THEN FILL THE RESEVOIR, THEN TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT WITH THE CAR OFF, AND THE FLUID ON THE RESEVOIR WILL GET LOW SO KEEP TOPPING IT OFF UNTILL NO MORE AIR IS SEEN. THEN START THE VEHICLE. YOU DONT WANT TO RUN THE PUMP WHILE IT IS DRY.

Another question I bought this certified 2011 toyota camry last year. And I have noticed that if I step on the brakes downhill I can feel a vibration. But if it's driving on plain road and uphill there is no issue. Is this a cause for concern? please advice thank u!!

Ralph Reyes says:

Thank u!!! cause, the Mechanic said both power steering pump and hose needs to be replace.

Ralph Reyes says:

Mine is 1996 Nissan Altima i have noticed that there was a power steering leak as well. My suspect was just the power steering pressure hose but not the power steering pump. Because i couldnt hear any sound from the pump itself. And the power steering reservoir doesnt get empty that fast. Is this correct? please advice thanks!!
