Nissan 350Z Window Problem

Nissan 350Z Window Problem

Made a short video demonstrating the horrible plague of evil broken window motors for the 350Z. Personally, I find it quite annoying and the price of a repai…

Mine was the driver side window. Nissan Dealership here in Canada wanted
$520 JUST FOR THE MOTOR, and another $180to install it. Total with tax
about $800. I ordered a new motor from Concept Z, and did it myself for
$200.

camcuber says:

mine doesn’t even go down.

VaNdAlL04 says:

the only recalls or problems i’ve seen with a 350 are the window mechinisms
(rarely) and 3rd gear grind on early models 03 (defective syncos)

noname40983 says:

i have a 04 nissan 350z with 50K miles and yeah i have the same fucking
problem with the passangers window it got stock half way and i pulled it up
with my hands, so now i never open it.Very dissapointed with nissan i was
expecting better quality and thats not all i have other problems as well it
makes a noise in the engine plus the parts for this car are expensive.

andrescaraudio says:

mine passanger window is doing the same thing probably worse and it only
has 14,800 miles. lol

Sandok13 says:

Not at all, given that both my driver and passenger windows (as well as
rear windscreen) are tinted and well, driver window works fine. And how
dark is it? As light as feasibly possible for me, given that techincally,
tinting the side windows isn’t totally allowed. I have more tint on my rear
windscreen and imho, it looks great like that but it’s all down to
preference. Truth be told, if you got a grey or black Z, tinting the
windows looks great.

tibbz82 says:

poor electrical contact! the slow growl is due to insufficient continuity.
open the door, take the motor out & apart, and clean out the window motor
brushes.

VaNdAlL04 says:

it could be a mixture of rock and gravel build up caused from mud, grid
roads etc. you have too take all the wheels off one at a time and clean
behind the lip area of the rim and the rotors and calipers. wash chissle
wash dry and regrease or what not. this problem happened to me and i
thought it was something major here it was caused from taking a short
gravel road one day after it rained all the rocks and gravel caused the
scraping and shimmying noise, but this can happen to any car.next coment

hell00fficer says:

not talkin shit but sounds like your pretty rough on the buttons as well
i.e. constantly being on/off the switch real quick….not so good for the
motors in general

MonteLSV6 says:

Here’s your problem of a very tedious inspection: You have a cat in your
door panel, the window rolls up and down, thus making the kitty purr.
Remove the cat to fix your problem.

ground545 says:

@bobster when you take the motor apart clean the bushes and electromagnetic
coil with fine sand paper then dielectric grease on important contact
parts, this way you shouldnt have that problem again, worked on my Z!

Ace Estrella says:

@Sandok13 I have the same problem on my driver side door very slow and
sometimes does not respond at all. What kind of motor are we looking for
the window and where do you buy that motor?

VaNdAlL04 says:

might seem alot too you but my 05 jetta had the window freeze up and drop
off the track because of those shit plastic clips they come with. and on
mk4 jetta’s i know for a fact its about 50% if not higher. PLUS if i wanted
a 350z with the windows always down i’d get a roadster. but i don’t like
roadsters over coupes plus the 350z roadster looks like a boat.

addictedtopussy69 says:

i have the same problem for both drive and passenger side window for my
350z. Replaced both motors with cardone remanufactured and they both went
out again and had it replaced under warranty. The 3rd motor in the car is
going out again on both sides. i was told it might be the window regulator
which might be bad causing the motor to work harder. I’m not sure right now
as well. They said the arm sometimes get bent making the motor work harder
burning it out.

Sandok13 says:

@Bad3ACE Your are looking, technically, for any window motor… But having
the official Nissan Window Motor is best. I searched various online
websites to that ship car parts to find the window. I can find the exact
link if you want, but any major online store that ships car parts should
have it…

Michael Calenda says:

This same thing happened to my 08 Touring. At least it was under warranty!

Sandok13 says:

Firstly, check around some Z websites and given that your Z only has a 100
miles, you’ve got the garentee so use is as much as possible. I think there
is a TSB from Nissan for ticking / grinding noises from the wheel wells…
Worth a shot anyways.

bobster says:

@Sandok13 Yes! That is totally right! I fixed mine, cleaned the brushes in
the motor and it worked fine for 2 week then again the same problem! =( new
motor, thatz the only solution if u want the full fix!

Sandok13 says:

Agreed, I’d have also bought the roadster if I wanted the windows down and
to drive in a ugly 350Z but there are days when I’m driving through the
countryside and a magical tunnel appears where I wish I could open BOTH
windows for that aural pleasure 🙂

1TB0T says:

I’ve got the “click but no go” on the driver side (RHS on Aus Version) and
mine is an 08 Roadster. It works one day, and then not the next. Ironic
that we have to trust Nissans “VDC” electronics to save our lives on every
corner, but we can’t trust those same electrics to wind up a window. Mines
going in under warrenty

Sandok13 says:

Ya, banging the door was only a temporary solution. Eventually, the motor
will die and you will hate Nissan 🙁 However, ever since I installed my
own window motor (very easy job), both driver and passenger windows have
been perfect!

Sandok13 says:

@1993habsalltheway You can try two things… Either undo the door panel and
take the window motor out and clean it / oil it. I did this and the
solution worked… For one week, however some people do this and the “fix”
lasts months if not more. Otherwise, gotta change the window motor. You can
do it yourself, it’s very easy (if you want to save a few bucks).

Sandok13 says:

Rarely? Depending on which garage you visit (and which forums), seems that
easily 10-15% of Z owners have their stupid windows acting up… 😛

EdisH13 says:

haha something like that happend to me a couple days ago on my passenger
window but mine can not close now i didnt get the problem fixed yet but i
will soon

VaNdAlL04 says:

was any of this affected by your window tint? how dark is your tint? mine
isn’t coming tinted and i was going to tint front and rear side windows 35%
and make the rear windsheild 20%, but not before i seen how it looks first,
how dark it will look and if it will look fucked because the dark is that
much darker.

jefferson kuan says:

I had this problem today. My driver side window wont go back up(04 350Z
Touring). I went to a friend who owns a shop to help me out with it and
determined that there was a connection problem between the motor and the
wires. After a few minutes of checking with a meter and working the
switches, the window worked again flawlessly(knock on wood so this wont
happen again!). Anyways, I hear that G35 owners also have the same window
problem.

Filipeg85 says:

my 350z right side window stopped working like yours too

mjs1231 says:

2004 touring coup, driver window just failed. fuck. I am seeing tens of
thousands of people complaining lol. well we bought it. now we have to buy
it again lol. the fukn u get for the fuk u got. lol

1993habsalltheway says:

my 350z does the same thing… but on the driver side. Do i have to change
the motor 🙁

ItaLyZPlaYa1 says:

Mine dont go slow like that but my driver side opens a few inches when I
shut the door I have to climb in and do it again and my passenger side
window if you push it down all the way it won’t come back up unless you
bang on the door sometimes lol. Car is sweet but windows suck.
