what tools did you need exactly? have you done the transmission one as
well? because i have to change that tomorrow as well
Nice! How did you know your transmission mount was broken? Was it just
shaking around down there?
Good logic. Your car will love you for that.
The rubber was cracked where the bolt goes through the center. The RH mount
had just failed, so when I saw the crack in the rubber I thought it was
time. I also read somewhere that it’s good to replace mounts in pairs (that
is, do the RH when you do the LH) and I thought that made sense. I do all
the work on my car, so I try to keep things in order so I can feel/hear/see
a problem before it gets out of hand.
To change out the mounts, all you need is a wrench set. And something under
the engine to hold its weight while you take off the mounts. I have not
worked on the transmission of the Nissan.
I’ve done the transmission mount. It’s a bigger job, but not hard. There’s
just a lot of stuff you have to remove out the the way so you have access
to the mount: air box, resonator, battery, battery tray, wiring harness.
Once that stuff is out of the way, you can unscrew the bolts and it comes
right out. I supported the transmission on a flat-ish part of the bell
housing – no problems. Because of all the stuff in the way, it did take a
while.
wondering where you place the floor jack to lift engine to replace mount
Anywhere under the oil pan is fine. I put a 2×4 between the jack and the
engine to help distribute the weight. Most of the weight will be on the
other engine mounts though, so its not too big of a deal.
