Taking out the glove box is not that hard. It makes the job easier. You simply have to remove 8 screws and it drops right out. ALSO – when you have the glove box out you can easily access the fan blower and motor. It has three easily accessible screws holding it in. I strongly suggest dropping the blower and checking the squirrel cage fan for leaves or other debris. Crap definitely gets in there and will cause the fan to rumble and vibrate and not run at full speed because it knocks it out of balance. Before installing the new filter you should run the blower at full speed. This will blow out a ton of trapped leaves and other debris into the passenger side footwell.
Putting in the new filter element is easier that getting the old one out. To remove the old one just pinch and yank – don't worry about damaging it because they can't be reused anyway.

When installing the new one – once it you have it most of the way in – be sure the top edge is fully inserted first – you'll have to go by feel. Then tuck in the bottom edge.

Thank you for this video. I purchased my replacement cabin air filter at my local AutoZone, followed these directions, and had the filter changed in less than 10 minutes. I am a 42 year old female for anyone who thinks it's too difficult. I'm sure this saved me some money by purchasing the filter and installing it myself.

I own a Toyota, a Honda, and a Nissan. And I hate to say, changing cabin air filter on Nissan is the most difficult.

Nice video.

The in cabin air filter (2013~2016 models) feature is poorly designed. Makes replacing a pain in the butt!

Push the passenger seat all the way to the back. Kneel and unlatch the cover from behind the passenger side console.

Removing the filter requires you to dig your fingers into the tight spaces and grab and pull out the filter.

It's worse… pinch the replacement filter then literally shove it into the that tight space 1/2~1/3 section at a time. Once done, put the latch cover back.

Took almost ~20~30 minutes!

It's More time consuming to remove the glove box contents and front cover to access the in cabin filter and not worth it.

The Nissan filter did Not have arrows so followed same direction with the new filter which meant arrows faced towards engine. There were No instructions on which direction to place the filter. Not sure if it makes a difference.

Thank for the video.

Any in cabin air filter ~$10~$25 depending on the brand and whether or not it has the fresh scent or carbon filter or whatever each brand includes.

You can buy the filter directly but Nissan Service started charging $50!! to install which kills the savings and a massive money grab and rip off!!!

Walmart's Auto techs charge $10 which is more reasonable if you want others to replace the filter for you.

Good luck & thanks!
