It should be the same or a very similar procedure. You could watch this video, and then check the underside of your Altima to see it the underside is similar. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Is the 2002 Nissan Altima with the same size engine exactly the same deal or similar job? Anyone?

nategj says:

Thanks! I am about to clean it up under there to see if i can at least locate the leak.

The oil pan replacement that you see in the video is all that will have to be done to replace the oil pan.

I was told that there is an lower oil pan assembly (the one on the video is what i have) and a upper oil pan assembly. Is that correct? I was also told that I would have to take off my right axle to replace it. Please let me know!

thanks for the reply and explanation 1AAuto!

The oil pans on these cars rust out. RTV gasket maker, due to advances in adhesives curing etc, work just as well as a gasket. Many manufacturers during the assembly processs are going to RTV for things like oil pans and valve covers.

KillerZero259 says:

1AAuto I have two questions. what was wrong with the original oil pan? and is there a specific reason to use RTV over the actual gasket?
