How To Install A Lift Kit On A Nissan Xterra

*** Tools, Parts, and Torque Specs can be found here: http://rtcg.tv/?p=485 ***
This video was created to demonstrate installing a full lift kit on a Nissan Xterra. The truck used in the video is a 2005 2WD version. This video should apply to all Xterra models 2005 + as well as Frontiers and possibly Pathfinders of the same years. I purchased my kit from All Dogs Off Road and the kit feels really strong and drives well. You can find their website in the links below.

***I mention in the video that the rear u-bolts should be tightened down to 53 lb-ft THIS IS ONLY TRUE IF YOU ARE USING STOCK U-BOLTS. I was incorrect and the specs for the upgraded u-bolts are 90 lb-ft***

I just got a kit from Nisstec Lifts: SPC UCAs, Radflo coilovers, add-a-leafs, and Bilstein 5100s. Should be able to install it in the next couple of weeks, weather permitting.

MrNails says:

Ry, I can't find anyone to answer my question: how is it that torque specs don't change i.e., you still use OEM specs), when the part you're putting on is stronger/bigger/etc.? To my mind, it makes sense that those should change. Always wondered this. Thanks! I'm now watching this video for the 3rd time because I'm doing this today!

grahambohne says:

For this ADO kit, there is no need for a rear sway bracket relocation? Ry didn't install one so I am assuming that the rear 5100s clear the sway bar?

NinjaSpecter7 says:

What are the torque specs for the ARB Old Man Emu U bolts ect?

Daniel Hodge says:

Well now I’m ordering this exact kit from all dogs ASAP

davidbrennan5 says:

why lift a 2wd xterra?

jkutyna says:

Why for the love of god would you reattach that unholy sway bar if you're going to lift your vehicle? The very first thing any truck/suv owner should do who wants to put even 1 inch of lift and potentially take their vehicle off-pavement, is take those idiotic sway bars off. You basically have done nothing but spend a large wad of cash and hamstrung it all back to the original situation you had by reattaching that useless 100 pound bar. I have yet to ever find a Frontier for offroading that still had that thing on.

Greg Davis says:

Loose that rear sway bar ….

americardo2000 says:

Can u tell me more info about the suspension or springs that u used to help, I think my lines sucks

none of my business says:

At 13:18 you mentioned that the xterra already has adjustable camber bolts…really? When I had my OME installed, I asked the guys at the alignment shop to look at the camber and they said it wasn't adjustable…?

Steve Chrisman says:

I just found this channel and I have a caterers 07 SE and this makes me so happy

MrNails says:

Great video!

Richard Dillard says:

What was the lift a 2 inch or 2 1/2

BrapTube says:

How much lift did this add?

Aldo Aguirre says:

Hello, Do you have a suggestion for a towing kit for a 2002 Xterra? Thanks.

Agent. K. says:

Did you need shims for the rear?

Natalia and Etienne says:

one more question, im trying to order the kit you did, is the xterra a crew cab or king cab?

Natalia and Etienne says:

waw amazing video, but what about wheel spacers??? as far as they say here that if you lift 2" then you have to put a 2" wheel spacer so the car doesnt roll, i need your advice about it as i am not that much excited about the spacers, thanks in advance

Hunter R. says:

Hey Ry! Appreciate the super detailed videos. Would be terrified of attempting this without it. Just wondering which leaf pack you went with from ADO? I'll be doing this on a 2012 Frontier, so maybe there are more options than for the Xterra?

JimAirborne25 says:

A question I have is whether you gained the lift on the truck without adding a lift kit?

chris74ify says:

Where are the new pics of the new tires….rims? We are waiting ?????

Daniel Tovar says:

very good video. Little by little I am also fixing and modifying my xterra 2001 Xe.

Patrick Amato says:

Thank you so much! I used your video to help with my install today. Besides my front leaf spring bolts being nowhere as easy as yours, it went pretty smoothly! Also Alldogs is great to work with and this kit is fantastic.

Mark Lenington says:

putting a lift on 2wheel drive vehicle is stupid, goodbye and i will never sub

Sekou Charlo says:

The car is already doing poorly on gas , will put the upgrades make it worse .

Cocora22 says:

I really liked your video and will definitely recommend that my son watch it. He has a 2007 with 150,000 maybe be a little more on it. We’ve done a lot to it but no suspension work and I think it’s badly needed. Did you get new tires? What size, would love to see some comparison pictures. You made it look super easy really, somewhat time consuming, but if you don’t have to deal with the coils yourself maybe knock it out in a weekend, you think? I refer to all your xterra videos to do the work on my son’s truck and you have no idea how much I have learned and passed on to him. Thank you!

mpajares3 says:

Used the video as basis for ADO suspension upgrade on my 2012 fronty. Great video tutorial. Thanks for making these and many more for our platform. Appreciate it!
