today i’m replacing the starter on a Nissan Versa. The issue is that the Starter Solenoid is starting to fail. Sometimes it will work and other times it does nothing. tapping the starter with a stick or something will usually get it to start. So what is a starter Solenoid it is basically a relay. energizing the solenoid will close a pair of heavy contacts thus allowing the electric motor to spin.

That didn't look too bad at all. I had a friend with a Toyota truck have me look at his starter. Couldn't find the starter ha, it was under the intake.
