colombia555 says:

Thanks guy this noise was driving me crazy

BIGCHIEF305 says:

squamishfish says:

i have a 2006 Nissan sentra., i had trouble starting the car , The Diagnostic kept showing the Crank shaft senor.,after changing it 3 times ., A mechanic told me it is the timing effecting the crank shaft sensor., So i have to change the timing chain .,

JoelleImagine says:

is the raddling engine a cause for the Check Engine light/Service Engine soon light??? is it a reason why the light is on?

wotautomotive says:

Just wanted to thank you for your guidance and help. I have just finished doing this job on a 2004 quest. Van is even worse since the engine goes in deeper under the cowl. It is just sad to see are really good engine get bad over a $2 part. Additionally I did fill the front bottom motor mount with window weld and that repair works, just FYI. Happy repairing and all the best.

Johnathan Duncan says:

Could You list the parts please. That would make it a lot easier.

bjpatty23 says:

Thanks for the guide, sounds just like what is wrong with my car

babafett85 says:

How much is rbe job

Paul Revere says:

hey thanks for posting the video it is great. I have a 2004 Nissan Quest with about 91K started doing this about 5K ago, am going to try and tackle it in a week or so.

2012nugget says:

The tensioner isn’t the real problem, it’s the guide the tensioner rides on. It will over extend when the plastic slide on guide falls down.

2012nugget says:

I would check my oil pressure. Sounds like an oil pump.

ucnhtmenow1 says:

Off subject but its weird how people can dislike a video intended to help people lol.

ucnhtmenow1 says:

Videos are great. Do u have the parts list or part #’s you may need. I see it has 2 tensioners I guess lower and upper and is the guide attached to the tensioner. Any help is appreciated thanks.

TruAgape1234 says:

ur expectations r low. u shouldnt have had to replace sensors, powersteering or need lucas oil treatment. with Renault cheapning Nissans, theyve lowered their quality significantly. oil consumption is definately an issue, uve just yet to experience it, or r unaware of it. these “Renaults” r best avoided.

The03artist says:

my 2003 maxima se just started making a noise similar to this, hard to tell if its the exact same or not. It just started making it a few days ago. It doesn’t start making it right away but probably 5 – 10 seconds after starting and when the its between 1500-2000 rpms, also my oil light has flashed a couple times but the oil is at the correct level and was changed not that long ago. don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. ill get a video up of the sound and post it here.

2012nugget says:

Everyone is different when it comes to how long it takes. I do it in around 6 hours, my guess would be to expect at least twice that. Yes the noise will increase with rpm.

King K says:

how long does this repair take? and since the altima is the same engine is the procedure typically the same? mine is ticking consistenly and faster with rpm. does that mean its a different problem?

Christopher Cox says:

whats the easiest way to time the 3.5? I understand you have to take cover off. so these videos help alot.

Joe Parker says:

YOU are money! A couple quick questions. My 04 with 107k is making a ticking noise, most noticeable in the car, while in gear, and hot. It is not loud, but does seem to be worsening. Do you think this is beginning stage of tensioner failure? I noticed you listed some parts in another response, are those to reseal cover? Lastly, on a slighlty off topic note, are you familiar with the transgo kit for slipping? Any thoughts? Thanks for adding banjo tight to my vocab!

maxracer tejada says:

I HAD A ALTIMA 3.5 2004 , WITH 110K ..NO OIL CONSUMPTION , VERY RELIABLE , JUST REPLACED SOME SENSORS AND POWER STEERING ..NOT BAD AT ALL ..BUT I BEEN USING LUKAS OIL TREATMENT ..MMNN WONDERING THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT..

FADEDCUBAN says:

GOOD JOB SIR I OWN A 2005 3.5 ALTIMA SAME ISSUE BUT CAN YOU MAKE A VID ON HOW TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS PLEASE THE MAXIMA AND V6 ALTIMA HAVE THE SAME MOTOR

Brandon Lyons says:

This is the most valuable ounce of prevention I’ve seen this week. Save a motor by getting this done A.S.A.P.!!

austin12089 says:

Nissans are shit now anyway. A chain will last in most things today if its serviced right. Today Renault and Nissan engines are alliance engines made by the two.

TruAgape1234 says:

Renaults crappy quality is now a Nissan quality. It’s best to avoid Nissan Renaults. Timing chain isn’t the only issue. Problems include: motor mounts, A/C units, oil consumption, transmission, alternators. These “Renaults” become money pits real fast.

King K says:

is this how the 3.5 altima works as well? my car started ticking today, does that indicate te timing chain is going or just the guide and tensioner

King K says:

great video man

2012nugget says:

Thanks King.

Ronnie King says:

Finished changing mine today. Followed your video all the way. It was a big help. Went to a mechanic before , he said it was expensive a lot of work but didn’t want to quote any price. Parts cost $150 inc oil n filter. It was cold in Brooklyn but I did it. Had problems with bottom bolt on engine mount. Great video

santonyo Robinson says:

hey need your help did the procedure and the left sprocket move to the right when i took the tension off and moved back when i put the chain guide on, not getting any fire! turning over great, can you help?

2012nugget says:

Have it scanned , autozone will do it for free as will most auto parts stores. Getting the code is a good place to start.

2012nugget says:

It shouldn’t be a problem unless there is an obstruction in the way. You should be able to slide it right into place.

sik6hundred says:

I did everything but now I’m having trouble putting the timing chain cover back on. How did you do this?

Armando Lopez says:

First of all good video my nissan maxima star to make that sound and the engine light is on and the car dont run good is to slowly u know what the problem

sik6hundred says:

I got the bolts off. Is it one bolt on each that you have to remove? On the alternator the bolt does want to come out all the way. Do I slide them off with a pry bar once they are off?

2012nugget says:

I believe I have that coverd in part two, its no easy task. Bolts are going to be tight !

sik6hundred says:

How do you take off the power steering pump and alternator?

Jimmy Pritchett says:

i am currently in the process of doing this to my 04 maxima i am stuck on how to get the bottom motor mount bolt out of the block no matter how hard i try the fire wall is in my way any advice i noticed you were able to get it out
