Check out my other video on bleeding brakes,2000 mazda mpv brake bleeding.

hp11208 says:

There is a bleeder valve next to the brake caliper.

Matt Da King says:

How do you bleed the brakes

hp11208 says:

Not really, only if its really dirty.I do this all the time never had any problems. But its a good idea to clean everything with brakes parts cleaner.

gsleve says:

Before putting new pads on the glaze from the rotor needs to be removed with a piece of emery cloth in a circular motion. If not the new brake material is unable to transfer itself to the glazed rotor stopping power is reduced considerably increasing bedding in time for the new pads. One may never experience the optimum stopping power of the new brake pads if this procedure is skipped.

Bleed the brakes.

I just replaced the front brake pads on my 2001 max but the brake won’t grip anymore. The brake pedal flattens out all the way and just won’t work. There was brake before the installation. Any suggetions on what I should do next?

Jacob Pockros says:

This is a dumb question but do you need to bleed the brakes to compress the piston back in before you put it back together? Or can you just do it with the clamp by itself?

Castlestoney says:

STEP TEN: Resurface the rotor or replace the rotor. Most auto retailer stores provide rotor resurfacing. After machining, use a 120 grit sandpaper on the rotor in a light circular motion to give a non-directional finish. Clean the rotor with mild soap and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth. Do not use petroleum based cleaners.

Copied from power stop brakes site. Sense brake cleaner is not pertroleum based and is made for this use it. I’ve been doing brakes for decades.

Castlestoney says:

I guess brake companies who make brakes & rotors are lieing when they tell us to clean rotors. New or used they say “clean them” But what do they know.
If you read thier pad replacement instructions they say to do it.. If your going to give tips on something then at least learn how to do it correctly yourself.
Visit powerstop brakes site and read thier “How to” section. It shows the correct step by step way to replace pads. Its not just dust, your removing old brake contaminants burnt in it!

hp11208 says:

rotors were good,no dust on this one.You dont have clean anything if its not dirty,i do this all the time.

Castlestoney says:

Something he didnt do and should “always” do is remove the rotor and spray it with brake cleaner & inspect it to see if it needs turning. At least clean the old brake pad material off it. I spray rotors down & use steel wool to clean them. If you skip this step, old pad material, oil, grease and contamination thats on the rotor will transfer to the new pad and can cause issues. After installing pads bed them in. “Google= Brake bed in” to see how…It makes alot of difference. Shade tree way here.
