Auto Parts Direct To You says:

if you don’t line up the piston on the rear pads, the pads will receive
uneven pressure from the caliper, which will reduce stopping power and
cause the pad to wear very unevenly.

TheCuco3698 says:

What happens of you don’t line up the piston?????

josescoe says:

do you have to turn the rotors even if their new???

Nice video! I’m going to have my 17 year old son do this on his “new” 1998
Maxima along with all of the other normal maintenance items.

The breaker bar worked great…I also turned the steering wheel to really
get in there. thanks

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

Those bolts can be extremely tight, if you can’t break it loose using a
breaker/bar and socket, the next step would be to get a hold of an impact
wrench and use that to break them free.

Trying to get brake caliper bracket off…bolts won’t budge by hand. What 2
do??

Thanks!

Nice job. It looks like the last guy to change the rear pads didn’t line up
the notch in the piston correctly. But doesn’t the piston have to rotate,
to allow it to lengthen as the pads wear? Or can it rotate internally, yet
keep the notch lined up?

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

You should be able to get one from your local auto parts store on as a
loaner tool. Most auto-parts stores will let you borrow specialty tools
(after putting down a refundable deposit of course).

Any other tools you can use to compressor the caliper? I don’t have that
compressor
