I need,help
@M. Yasin – The TV should be grounded on its own. I am not 100% sure on this, if it is not grounded, but you could try a surge protector and see if that will ground the TV. Thanks and please let us know if you have any other questions! (877) 881-6492
My nearly brand new 55″ Insignia TV has started to shock anything that’s attached to it. It burns and shocks me when I get too close or touch it. Based on what I’ve read, it might not be grounded properly. How this happened I’m not sure. Any ideas on how to make sure a TV is grounded and if it isn’t how I can ground it? Thanks!
@David Dunaway – We are glad you found the video helpful! Thanks for your comment.
thank you this was a very helpful vid.
@FeelDaBrees – The TV should be able to be fixed. If you had white dots on the screen, before it went blank you would most likely need to replace the Chip and if your screen is now blank without a picture, you will most likely also need to replace the lamp/bulb as well. There may be a red light blinking indicating that the lamp needs to be replaced. Thanks and please let us know if you have anymore questions, if you need assistance searching for you part, please contact us at (877) 881-6492.
can your tv be fixed once it will not show picture at all anymore, i knew the mirror chip needed to be replaced but didnt get to it and now it wont show a picture at all. so i guess before i buy the chip do you think it can be fixed
@theo simmons – I am going to need some more information to help with this repair. Could you please reply with the TV model number and exactly what is showing on the screen? Is the screen completely red? Any other symptoms? Thanks!
Hitachi 60×60 has a red screen repair
hi! I have a problem i change the lamp but now i put it on but just last 10 minutes and then shut it down please can you help me with the problem thanks
I have several issues: Was just white dots appearing everywhere. But now when turned on has black screen w sound and mins later shuts off, Oh and it has humming 🙁 Please help list what is needed. Thank you kindly.
I thought it was the screen being burned, since I’m on it almost all my free time. I’m kinda glad it isn’t my screen. I just got my bulb replaced and I heard a similar story, after two years they replaced the bulb and white spots started to appear.
Just replaced the dmd chip this morning and the tv is back to normal. Did it in about 1 hour thanks to shopjimmy for the chip and the video. We also downloaded a service manual that helps with step by step images. Very Happy!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the great video. I ordered a replacement chip from you and had it in the TV in under an hour. Great service to us DLPers!
The video wasn’t exact for my Mitsubishi TV but close enough. Taking my time it took less than 90 minutes. No more dots. Thanks.

recently purchased a samsung htl4675sx/xaa dlp tv used. i was told that it needed a bulb, however, your video says that to repair the white dot problem i should replace the dlp chip, correct ? thank you.
Thanks ShopJimmydotcom!! This video wasn’t exactly my model, however it got me what I needed to complete my replacement! No white dots anymore!!
Oh, well, Ernest that’s what having a brain & tools is all about. It doesn’t take Rocket science; just common sense, patients & a lil bit of time…
I called a repair shop & they qouted a price of $400 when all I spent was $89 for the part. Shop Jimmy is my new parts warehouse for everything I’ll ever need in TV repair. Tah tah
Thank you shop Jimmy.com I fix my TV after noticing white dots on my screen. I never would have repaired it without your help. I never knew what a DLP chip was until now. Shopping with y’all for parts is great & trustworthy. Greatly appreciated,
Jim Green
great video thanks
I consider myself an average person, and thanks to this instructions and the excellent step by step video, I performed the repair in under one hour !!! Thank you so much for posting it! it saved me at least $300,
What, you mean someone who does things themselves is going to do this themselves? What a profound thought.
What about all the books in DIY electrical, carpentry, plumbing,..ect
Thanks for this video, I just fixed my tv myself,…oh yeah!!!!!
do have a dlp chip for panasonic pt 4000 dlp projector.dlp chip no 7182855.the fault vertical line on the center of the screen.
I think replacing the DLP chip is fun.I have gotten pretty at it by now.Can change one out in under 15 mins with every screw in its perfect place. Its the damn ribbon thats the hardest part but besides that i have fun doing it with ease.
The average joe will not attempt this.
a do it your selfer maybe
Yep,…. taking food off the tables of qualified, trained and experienced CET’s everywhere,….
If you experience issues with an off center or distorted image on your DLP TV screen, take a look at the video above to learn more about aligning the DMD board or Light Engine / Optical Block!
Hi Nicole,
It’s not too bad to do, i’d watch the video through a couple of times then see what you think. The cables are all set up so you can’t put the wrong wire in the wrong place when you put it back together!
This is a great video. I’m having this exact problem with a 65″ Mitsubishi and if I were more adventurous I’d try this. But I’m not, the disconnection of all the cables really scares me. So repair guys gonna get alot of money.
