I found out that where the dlp chip is there is a slot for a screwdriver and you have to turn it clockwise to tighten the chip down and now it’s perfect ! It’s actually inconspicuous if you don’t remember undoing it.
do a little research. the dlp chip IS a bunch of miniscule, hinged mirrors.
if you didn’t mark the lamp wires and connected them backwards you may have damaged the new lamp or supporting circuitry. good rule of thumb is to always review multiple how-tos’s for the repair you intend to make, and understand the suportting sub-systems.
I have the same tv except it’s a bit smaller than yours. It’s 62 inches. It’s working fine right now, just had the bulb replaced but this morning I noticed a black looking smear from the inside of the TV. Could that have something to do with the chip you mentioned or should the inside of the screen just need to be cleaned?
Great video! I initially had a DLP chip issue and used your directions to successfully replace the chip! AFter I received the chip, and had no issues installing it, I now have a lamp issue as a direct result… I have a brand new lamp, which I’ve tried replacing, but i know I still have a good 6 months on the first lamp. Any idea why the lamp will fire up (i can see the light through the back) but shuts off after about 10 seconds? The ready light goes red and the lamp light blinks green…
please tell me that you don’t actually believe there’s a bunch of tiny mirrors inside that chip……….facepalm

Try checking your the panel you pulled off to get to the lamp. My lamp light was flashing until I tightly screwed the panel back on. Hope that helps.
I Replaced the DLP Chip on my 73″ Mitsubishi and when I turn it on I have the Lamp light on, I replace the lamp and still have the Lamp light blinking. What can be causing this?

Spot On! Your video guided my son and I thru the steps needed to fix the TV. The only step that I saw missed was after replacing the chip and putting the heat sink in place you should add a heat sink paste to insure heat transfer from the chip to the heat sink itself. Repair time hour and a half.

I bought the dlp chip but then noticed I saw spots on the inside mirrors after I took of the chip ! So I thought I would clean it and try the old one again. Problem is I get a error now in red in front of the tv . I also put in a new lamp and was wondering how can you tell which wire go’s where on the lamp and what I could done wrong for the error ?

does anyone know why my screen came on dark blue almost black after i did this? I cant even hear the sound, and the error code was 33 meaning the air filter is open and i dont know where the air filter is either. please help.
I did the same thing you did but when my tv came on the screen was darkblue, but i can still hear sound out of it. Any idea why? I did the blinking status light thing and it said error 33 saying that my air filter cover is open, would that turn the screen dark blue?
I was thinking about just selling my 65 inch Mitsubishi after it got about 500 white and black dots and a repairmand telling me it was going to cost $600 bucks to fix it, but after watching this video i am thinking about buying the chip and replacing it myself. Thanks alot

It’s not something you can clean. Individual mirrors on the chip itself have failed. Only solution is to replace the chip.
cant you just clean it with alcohol of something? or will it get worse?
I had the same problem with my 73″ Mitsubishi . It starts with a few white spots and continues to get worse. I watched this video, ordered the replacement chip for about $180.00, and followed the directions on this video. It took me about 1 hr (max), and worked like a charm. I felt like a TV repairman! Great video and relatively easy job if you just take your time! Thanks!
Bought the same TV in 2007. Replaced the lamp once. Noticed one little black piece of dust upper left. More appeared after a couple of months or so. Thought it was dust. Cleaned that SOB “open heart surgery” style, no love. No white smudges, spots, smears, etc. Going to purchase the chip and see what happens. Try that with an LED or LCD! You burn a pixel on one of them, good luck… THANK YOU for the video!!!

Same here…just replaced the bulb like 6 months ago, and just today noticed 1 dead pixel. I work on all my own computer stuff; this looks very easy to do.

I agree with you. I like the DLP picture much better than the LCD or Plasma. Especially on the large screen TV’s.
what website did you find yours?
I just got mine fixed for free at my local TV shop, in Fargo ND. Samsung did pay the shop to fix the DMD chip. I don’t know if Mitsubishi did that or not. samsung and mistu had the same problems. I love my DLP and its better then an LCD
