Wow – I wonder where you/your school district is. Anywhere near San Diego,
CA (that’s where I am)? If so, I’d ask for your help on this, if you would
take such a side job.

GreensongOakheart says:

Well I took apart an xd510u today an, as far as I can tell, it is an
identical machine on the inside. The dmd chip was the 1076-6319w just like
the one in the ex51u. So I have been ordering that part from Global
Projectors and they send me a 1076-6329w. Good luck

GreensongOakheart says:

You can get them from Mitsubishi they will have your part number. Or Global
Projectors is the source we have been using lately. The chip in the 51u is
1076-6319w which is a TI 1024by768 chip. They have been sending me a
1076-6329w as a replacement which works great. I haven’t pulled apart any
of the 510 projectors yet to look. I would bet it is the same chip they are
identical specs on the machines same lamp etc. It’s 200 bucks though

ted939 says:

Awesome – thanks. I’m a little confused, though. You said you’ve been
ordering the 1076-6319w, and they send you the 1076-6329w. 1. What is the
difference between the 6319 and the 6329, 2. why don’t they send you what
you ordered and 3. does the 6329 work for you?

ted939 says:

Great video – and exactly what I need! I have the Mitsubishi XD510U, and am
trying to find where to get the replacement DMD. Can you advise? Where did
you get yours from and what’s the part #? THANKS much.

GreensongOakheart says:

so I would pull it apart and look or call Mitsubishi and get the number
from them if you can.

ted939 says:

Thanks for your prompt reply! A few more questions arise: * Where/how do
you contact anyone at Mitsubishi (to find out the part #)? I’ve tried
Mitsubishi ph. #s I find online – no luck getting to an actual person. * Is
this the “Global Projectors” you use?: globalprojectors (dot) com * Would
it work to put a chip in that is higher res than 1024×768 (i.e. HD)? * If
you’ve never pulled apart a 510 projector, how confident are you that this
slideshow you have here also applies to it? THANKS!

ted939 says:

Sorry, what are you saying costs $500? You said in earlier comment that the
chip is $200, so I wonder what you’re now referring to as $500. Also, I
guess I must not have found the right Mitsubishi tech support #, and I
don’t know what it means to “drill down” from there. Can you explain and do
you know what that ph. # is? Wow, 50 of those projectors? Do you have them
for parts for repair biz, or are you an a/v guy, or something else?

GreensongOakheart says:

Mitsubishi wanted 500$ for it, but I got it from global and another place
for a little over 200$. I somehow got to their parts department from the
projector tech number. Not sure how it was three or four months ago. I am
an AV guy for a school district we have about 800 projectors. I normally
don’t need to repair them but this seems cost effective to me. 3 year old
machines all slowly going bad. I suppose next week I could take apart a
510u and see what the chip says.

GreensongOakheart says:

No where near SD although its a great town. It should be really easy once
you find out the chip and follow the video. I’ll pull one of the 510s apart
on wednesday and see I won’t be at work until then. happy New year.

GreensongOakheart says:

Yes globalprojectorsdotcom. I don’t think a higher res chip would work but
it might i don’t know enough about it to say. The 510 is one year older
than the 51u but its the same specs, case, lamp, lens and so on. I have
about 50 of them, but none have shown the white spots yet so i haven’t
taken one apart. I called their tech support number and drilled down. Once
I found it was to be 500$ I took a 51 apart and read the number from the
chip instead.
