Could the ac simply go in one of the windows? Like replace window with plywood…?

What I recommend to my customers to keep the drain pan, the condensate pump and the hose clear is to take an old medicine bottle with an eye dropper in it and put 5-10 drops of undiluted bleach straight into the drain pan every month. It works its way through the drain system and keeps that slime from going, which are colonies of bacteria, mold and/or algae. Plastic has microscopic pores in it that the allows those colonies to attach to the plastic. Those microscopic pores will also take up the bleach to prevent that stuff from growing again, assuming the customer is diligent about using the bleach. I also recommend it for central ACs that use a condensate pump, such as my own. I've never had an issue with slime in the 11 years since installing my system and I disassembled the drain line and pump this past spring and they were both spotless, including the P trap. Bleach is a customer's best friend when it comes to preventing drain clogs

really nice work Ralph. I have a job very similar to that I'm doing. How did you connect the lineset? Flare, braze? However you did it seems like it must have been difficult because of the tight space behind the unit?

It is amazing how far mini splits have come in such a short time, I had the pleasure of working on a very primitive Dynazone mini split on Friday, unfortunately the temperature control failed and we cannot get a new wired remote for it, but amazingly it still does a great job. I have considered gutting the unit and using an ordinary thermostat and relays to just give it maximum output all the time. But looking back the Mitsubishi's and most others much easier to install
Ralph, have you ever had to turn down a customer because they wanted to use an existing equipment that you know would not do the job??..Probably unrelated but you have been in this for a long time and you are probably experience a whole different kinds of customers over the years.

Looks like a pain but you got it handled! I hate those condensate pumps in minisplits but sometimes ya got no other choice! What brand of pump did you use ralph? I put in 4 mini splits at a nursing home and i used the diversitech pumps and have had nothing but problems with the pumps. The water level sensor rods get scummed up and the pump inlet screen gets clogged with slime and dust water mix etc. Drain tabs havent really helped. Unfortunately theres nowhere to run a gravity drain line

Everybody thinks that mini splits are so easy to install and they are easy for the most part, but they do have some unusual challenges sometimes. I install a lot of mini splits at the school where I work and sometimes they can be a challenge especially when the indoor unit is on the 1st floor and the outdoor unit has to go on the roof without having the line sets on the outside of the building. We mostly install the ceiling cassettes and have to run fresh air to them. Good job Ralph. Thanks for sharing.
