Mitsubishi Colt 1.1i – Control Arms Repair After 204k km (HD)

How do control arms look after 204.000 km? Let’s find out in this vodeo and repair them. Remember – the drive shafts doesn’t have to be removed, they was removed because of clutch replacement. The only thing that really must be removed is the control arm and for that we need to disconect this:

1. lower ball joint from the knuckle
2. sway bar link
3. the both big bolts in the control arm silentblocks

At knuckle ball joint assembly – if the ball joint starts to spin while mounting the nut, take the jack up and press the ball joint from below into the hole, but just gently, as much as needed for the joint to stop spinning in the hole.

Remember to disassembly the boot from the new ball joints and grease them – they will for sure come dry!

TOOLS:
– jack up and jack stand
– breaker bar maybe with extension, depends
– ratchet with a set of nuts
– extracting tool for the ball joint (not shown in this video)
– a press or a bigger vice
– some aligning tools for the press, be creative, could be water fitting or something else
– wire brush
– small pliers
– torque wrench, if you like
– gloves

MATERIAL:
– ball joint and bushings
– silicone spray for pressing the rbber in (it doesn’t attacks the rubber)
– hign pressure grease
– degreaser like alcohol or brake cleaner
– black piant if you like to paint the control arms slightly
