ImC00LyourNOT says:

hey i might need to do this on a 94 geo metro. is there any special torque
settings or anything in particular to worry about? or is it basically bolt
on bolt off easy like you show here? Thanks.

George Tsl says:

Oh my gad! It is disaster to put grease !! The lifters working only with
specific oil. There is a very small valve on it and small chanells on it.
You blocked all !
Also, in order to find out if the old one is proper or not, you must push
at the same time a small valve to let the oil come out.
It’s better to Know nothing, than half of a thing.

Edmund Ramirez says:

all heads have torque specs. although they are normally about the same.
just giogle it for your make and modle.

TourdeFrance20131 says:

Looks like its not that difficult

danny rocco says:

is that the same as a 2.4 liter on a 01 eclipse? it looks identical.

Chris laberty says:

Thanks for the video man. Only time in my life I hated having a V8 was when
I was doing this. Double the work, double the cost.

eyetotheworld says:

Very informative and concise. Thanks!

Gilberto Garcia says:

hey is it the same steps for an 03 lancer es it looks like it the same
motor setup?

TenaciousD says:

Thanks for posting this!

mike jupp says:

is this a 4g93??

Daniel Zambrano says:

I accidentally dropped a lifter into the space below the heads, i tried to
retrieve it, but ended up pushing it deeper into the engine, is there any
way to retrieve it? it is a 2002 mitsubishi eclipse 2.4L if anyone has an
internal engine diagram link… that’d be great too

achum2sum says:

appreciate the 411 on this I haven’t done it yet mine is hyrdraulic lifters
on a 3.5 liter DOHC making ticking noise real bad. Any special deal on
those?

Nthefastlane says:

Anytime achum2sum, I buy all my products off ebay..Price+shipping lowest &
set to Buy it now and check US only.

jeralldo05 says:

Sweet I have to do the same thing on that same car.

WutEverIFeel says:

Would this be the same concept for a civic d16y8? Mine is making a tapping
noise

Nthefastlane says:

Same principle, just the hydrolic lifters go over the valve springs,”like a
cap” instead of in the rocker arm as seen in this video.

Tyler Godwin says:

I have a 2002 Montero Sport with 85k miles and the lifters are already
making noise. Its not overly loud. But is this a serious problem or can it
just be put off? I was qouted $975 to replace all the lifters.

igor krav says:

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 2.5l and I have and knocking noise but when
I rev it the noise goes away any idea what it might be?

Nthefastlane says:

If that’s your problem then yes that’s it! Hope it goes smooth for you.

Nthefastlane says:

A rod will sound alot deeper then a lifter, Rod is more like a deep hollow
sound..best description would be the sound of a Diesel engine knocking
sound.. and a lifter would be more of a ticking higher pitch sound. Easy
and cheap way to find out is to use a long screw driver and touch the block
and head while it’s running and put your ear next to the handle and see
where it sounds louder.

Cerberus8771 says:

Are lifters responsible for ticking the infamous ticking noises in
Mitsubishi eclipse 4 cylinder engines? My 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse has a
faint but, noticeable ticking noise especially when I begin to rev the
engine. BTW excellent video!

DJDevon3 says:

I don’t have a Mitsubishi or anything relevant that would translate to my
engine but learned a lot. Thank you for the video. One thing I didn’t catch
is if they are HLA or SLA might want to specify that in description.

Paul Filipi says:

drove through high water. got water in engine. took out spark plugs and
shot out water. keep changin oil daily because it still looks lite tan
color. gotta knock in now. pretty sure it in engine. engine runs fine.
starts fine. no smoke from exhaust. gets faster with more rpm. a buddy told
me it might be a bad lifter. any suggestion and would this video be similar
on my 2007 toyota corolla. thanks

Nthefastlane says:

…or try 480p..which should def play fine.

25verizon says:

Hey I just ordered these lash adjusters and im wondering, just put them in
right out of the packaging? Or do I have to try and bleed them and fill
with oil? If so, could ya let me know how? Any information greatly
appreciated, thanks

Tyler Godwin says:

I posted a video of the sound, if u search 2002 montero sport ticking it
should be the first one. The sound is driving me up a wall haha

Robert Gardiner says:

a week later with lucas oil and additive and not only did i go to the
exspensive oil i went from 5w20 to 10w30 hoping it would help. Still making
the noise. It normally makes the noise when i rev it to 3000 rpm or higher
and shift. It seems only to make the noise when its not underpressure. So i
have been researching it and i believe it is the lifters. What do you think
it is and if it is the lifters is it done the same way?

fredrickvoncold says:

I have a old mazda mpv that if if sits for a week one lifter on the right
side will collaps i think you call it . It will bang pretty loud for five
minute, then it is just fine, runs smooth. Not sure about the cam but
wouldnt you have to replace that if it looks just a little bit worn? may
just add lucas and drive it till it drops anyway. 150 k miles

jessesentra1 says:

Thanks man! Really helped on my 2000 mirage

Nthefastlane says:

I noticed it was after you disassembled it a second time, hmmm, have you
checked the oil pressure?..maybe the oil pump is goin bad…every head has
a bolt port to check oil pressure with a gauge…at idle you should be at
least getting 10-20 psi at idle once the engines warmed up. For every 1,000
rpms it’s est 10 psi…so 8,000 I would say 65+ psi.

Gabzor says:

thanks!!! i just got a 4g93, and all its lifters are busted.. i did get
some adjustable rocker arms for the 4g93 mirage at the junkyard, but i’m
worried they make more noise.. whats better for a quiet operation?

Nthefastlane says:

I wouldn’t worry about it,once the car is running the oil pressure will get
to the head and fill them.

Juan Roque says:

Dude do you have a video replacing the head for this engine?

Tyler Godwin says:

so they don’t have lifters? sorry really don’t know to much about this
stuff. I was just quoted 975 to replace all the lifters. its the 3.5 liter.
how much should it cost to just adjust them?

SR86egy says:

Thanks for the tip, actually when I disassembled the lifters I found two
refuses to fill in oil so I am not sure if it is right to drive the car
with two unfilled lifters or not

Nthefastlane says:

Loss of power, bad choppy idle and black smoke from running rich out the
tail pipe..also lots of loud ticking.

Nthefastlane says:

Yes, sohc is the same as this video.

Nthefastlane says:

I’d have to hear it, is it coming from the block? Make a video of it on
Youtube and give me the link…

Nthefastlane says:

I ordered them off ebay ..Type this guy’s ebay id in the ebay search bar(
falconglobal ) There $46.88 for “8”.. remember there is “16” so you’ll need
to order 2 sets @ $46.88 so your total will be $93.76 shipped out the door
🙂 Btw that’s the cheapest out there! Hope I helped.

Suranga Prabath says:

Hey Buddy, I hav a Pajero io and it has Mit.4g94 engine. When i start the
engine morning it makes some noise, i think it is coming from the hydraulic
lifters.please advise me

Travis Duncan says:

i have an 04 jeep liberty with a ticking noise, the video is on my page, is
there any way you could watch it and tell me if its the lifters? i need to
replace them i think, but i want to be sure its the lifters before i go
ordering things and replacing things.

John S says:

Hi: What were the symptoms that caused you to replace all hydrolic lifters?
thanks

Nthefastlane says:

Well hey, I’m glad you got it up and running smooth.Wish you well with no
more problems!

Giovanni Leslie says:

Dude i have a Mitsubishi Galant 2.4 that has the lifter sound…but it only
sounds laouder at higher rpm…all i have to do is replace the lifter like
the way you did…and the noise will go?
