Fix Mitsubishi Van Starter Problem

Turns out the Main trigger relay was bad all along, but it was still worthwhile cleaning up the starter, It starts like a dream now, despite the cracked Yoke.

Well done. Some of those starters can be a pain to reassemble, especially the brushes.

I didn’t have any leather around, so i just finished it off with a soft cloth, it polished up quite well

I like using cup leathers to polish up commutators; they do a very good job and won’t remove any metal in the process.

that one has a timing belt so it will be the 2.0 ‘Sirius’ version. the 2.6 astron is the 4g54, same as what’s in my car. the 2.6 were all timing chain so that’s the easiest way to tell.
