I have a 1992 xri 200 and my electric motor is going out. You can tap it with a hammer(like you would an old starter) and she works fine. I heard you say you replaced that first before you replaced the whole unit. My question is: where you able to get to your motor without removing/loosening the black bracket thats attached to your jackplate?
I am trying to remove the Mercury 150-horsepower trim motor, but when I raise it by hand, the trim stops halfway up and stops. Even after removing all hydraulic oil, stop halfway up. Do I need to switch manually? Is there any other way ??

Hey mate how come you pulled out the steering etc? wouldn't the 3 bolts each side have let you swing the power tilt/trim unit out anyway?
Im about to do the same to my 1985 model – and don't wanna do the steering if I don't have to?
Hey guys, I have a 1990 Merc 150 with leaking trim. Will this procedure work with mine?
Our trim pump on our black max is not working as well. Where did you get the replacement pump from?
