Mercury 60hp EFI Four stroke Water pump replacement part 1

In this video I demonstrate the removal a the lower unit followed by the replacement of the water pump. With this particular model engine there was the option for a standard or larger “bigfoot” lower unit which this on is.

At 11:19 you say that the seal gasket silicone goes down towards the plate, I seen other video where they put the silicone side gasket facing up, which is the corect way.

Hello. it is 4 bolts and a nut , holding that lower unit. I put LU back holding it with just a nut tight, everything works fine shifts in gear prop spinning, then put the rest of the bolts and it doesn’t shift in gear. Any idea?

great video, the water from my engine comes out in flots. I have also changed the impeller and the gaskets. Mercury orion 60 hp from 2016

The service manual shows red Loctite on the (4) bolts you were struggling with. Wouldn't some heat be required to loosen those up?

Hi Ted. I have enjoyed your video. My 60 merc bigfoot leaks water out from what appears the front of the pump when flushing with the engine opreating or not. I have not dismantled anything yet.
