@outboard123 Sounds like a plugged carb. Check float, and needle to see if
they are both free.
I have the manual in PDF send email to merc39@shvndave.com
What hp/brand is it? Impeller may be bad.
I just recently acquired one similar to yours. What oil mix do you use?
Thanks.
I just bough the same motor for $170, just need a tun up. Any idea where I
can find info about this engine?
@outboard123 Does the primer bulb get firm after 5-6 pumps?
hey man you might beable to help me out you know where the water comes out
in the back mine insn’t shoting no water out do you know why
I just used 32:1.
@nozrt4me After cleaning, I had to dial in idle mixture. You’ll just have
to play with it. After it’s warmed up to temp, turn idle screw to the right
until it coughs or sputters. Then back off 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Then put in
gear and see how it idles. You may need to do it several times to get it
correct. If it still cuts out, you may need to check high speed circuit for
partial blockage.
i changed the impeller today and the gears are all wrong when i put it
together again and its not pumping out water at all. any help please
cleaned carb and new fuel lines bright blue spark but gas still not going
through fuel pump plug still bone dry help please if posible
i have the same motor and i need to adjust the carb to mine crank rite up to
what did u do to the carburator
50:1 is perfectly acceptable for these motors. The oil nowadays is far
superior to the oil they used back then, no need to run 32:1, thats way too
rich. I have a 1966 3.9 and it runs great on 50:1. Also, what carb
adjustments did you make, my motor tends to die out when giving it gas
sometimes, or it idles and then dies. It only happens once every 10 times
however….
i have the same mother 🙂
what are these worth in good condition?
@griggsb yeah
@TweetyBird2895 Just cleaned it out. I removed all the needles, and float.
Then soaked in some carbuerator dip overnight. It now needs a fuel pump
diaphragm.
