This work on a 64 merc 100hp 6 cyl?

doug Pier says:

Do you have any videos that show how to remove a power head off a mercury
motor? I have a 1975 50 HP Merc.

TheMarineDoctor says:

No sorry, I do not

TJ Harris says:

Can you PLEASE help me.. Agreed to help a friend out in replacing his water
pump impeller in his ’06 150hp 2-stroke and the ******* thing won’t go back
together right! Impeller came apart fine.. Replaced everything but the
housing. I did put it in gear (reverse if I remember correctly) before I
dropped the L/U. I lined everything up fine (so I thought) and it slid
right back up. However now it won’t shift into reverse.

verns12 says:

how do you disconnect the shifter on a 1990 mercury motor

MrJwylie36 says:

I was so excited to find out why you have it in reverse when you put it
back togethr but video stopped before then. I replaced water pump but the
gear shaft doesn’t seem to be cooperating , doesn’t appear to be in right
position and am afraid to fire it up. Did you produce yet another video to
explain the gear shaft problem?

TheMarineDoctor says:

No there should not be.

clarence mullins says:

when putting the lower unit back on how do I know when it is in reverse
before putting it on?

TheMarineDoctor says:

Have you checked out the second part to the video?

jonifun92 says:

What engine is this? 45,50,60 HP? Mercury Classic 50?

James Swan says:

Do you have a video on how to take a drive shaft off a 1984 150hp merc V6,
I have been looking but haven’t found one yet. James

neptun3se says:

Just bought an Evinrude 50hp from 1985, and I am going to change powerhead.
Problem is, I cant separate powerhead from the driveshaft since driveshaft
and crankshaft seems to be seized. I cant get the lower unit off. I have
separated block halves (just front half coulld be taken away) but still
cant separate driveshaft from crankshaft. Is there any trick to solve this
problem, or do I have to hack saw the driveshaft? In that case, how do I
separate the rest of the driveshaft from the gearbox?

TheMarineDoctor says:

Turn it counter clockwise so the prop locks both ways.

buckitmouth says:

Is it normal to have a little water coming out of the top exhaust hole
after impellar replacement? I did run a bead of RTV to seal the exhaust
from the water pump cavity. Is there a seal that’s suppose to connect the
copper water tube and the plastic sleeve that comes with the kit? ’03 Merc

bridgecommand says:

where did you do your training?

TheMarineDoctor says:

Anyway to flip the engine over and use a product like Engine Release to
pour down the shaft?

TheMarineDoctor says:

Are you referring to the idle exhaust port on the back on the leg? If so
yes.

Andy Ader says:

Thanks man, this saved me a lot of frustration:)

neptun3se says:

Thank You for the answer, I will try to hang the motor upside down and try
this as soon as I can find the Engine Release (I live in Sweden and Engine
Release is only sold in Canada and US). Maybe I can find some similar stuff
here. Anyway, thank You for answering.

TheMarineDoctor says:

I have a video on VRO. Please check it out. TMD

TheMarineDoctor says:

You need the serial number. It can then be looked up. Most are under the
front of the cowling.

TJ Harris says:

It will go into FWD and back to neutral fine but not reverse. I have tried
with throttle and L/U in forward, neutral and reverse. When I set both to
reverse it won’t let me go into neutral. Throttle shifts smoothly without
L/U on and L/U shifts easily with vise grips and turning wheel.

bigcarp82 says:

hello is there a shifter linkage that in need to disengage from a 1986 35
hp mercury to drop the lower unit if not it seems to be stopping at 3/4 of
a inch gap and will not come down any further what do i do it seems to be
stuck the motor had sat for 4 years and i need to replace the impeller

TheMarineDoctor says:
