Thermostat replacement: 30 to 45 minutes ($15 / $110 / $130)
In this video I helped a friend replace a thermostat in their 1999 Mercury Marquis. This process should work for many Mercury vehicles with the V8.

good looking just followed your directions and completed my job
About how much does this cost if you take it to a mechanic for this car?
thanks for the help, your awesome 🙂
The difference in quality between Volvo wagons and this car must have made your immune system go into anaphylaxis.
Appears a coolant change was in order, lots of rust. Owner didn't replace antifreeze last time when top hose blew, that is a newer top hose.
I forgot to mention – it's a very good idea to replace the cap on the coolant bottle on these Fords. Most use a 16lb cap, costs something like $7. I pressure test every radiator/coolant bottle cap I come across when I'm servicing vehicles and I've found these Fords have a very high failure rate on the caps (usually won't hold anywhere near 16psi).
Often these cars have cracked intake manifolds because they make them out of plastic.
I ain't got time for that.
Good vid.
Hi Mr. Robert!
Man, what an ugly engine! That engine really needs that cover! Hahaha
Do love those thermostat housing bolts though…
Nice video as always Mr. Robert!
