This video shows how to replace the ignition coil on a 4.0 engine. It should be the on your 2006 Explorer. hope this helps you out. If you’re trying to replace a connector to the coil we currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

hi i need to know how to change the ignition coil connector of my 2006 ford explorer

1aauto says:

You might have a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) sensor. Usually when they go bad the motor will tend to surge.

cupidlace says:

what does it mean when you run ur air and it sounds like your motor will turn off but it does not…I just goes up and down..and the battery meter goes up and down also…my AC does need to be charges would that have anything to do with it..? I have subscribed to your channel..

Thanks for the reply 1aauto
Turned out to be the Crankshaft sensor $19 and a little cussing = all fixed.

1aauto says:

You may want to see if it’s getting spark to the engine. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

jeff Anderson says:

What would be the issues that would necessitate this change? I currently have a ’97 4L V6 explorer that cranks (new battery) but will not start/fire. Thank you.

how much does a new coil cost?

rswany16 says:

Is this the same process for the Ford 4.0l SOHC also????

1aauto says:

Deeshizzle69 says:

Thanks. Ill try that.

1aauto says:

It could be either one. You may want to have the injector tested to see if it’s working right.

Deeshizzle69 says:

My 2000 Ford Explorer keeps fouling out #5 plug. Would that must likly be the coil pack or an injector problem?

inkspray says:

Perfect. I have a 98 explorer with the same engine, and was about to start throwing parts at it.

1aauto says:

You may want to inspect the serpentine belts for cracks and also a possible belt tensioner that may need to be replaced. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1aauto says:

As long as everything is lined up and bolted down correctly you should be fine. With some of these coil packs, the way that they’re engineered, they may not seat as tightly as a typical spark plug wire. My Jeep coil pack is the same way. If you have anymore questions just post and we’ll help you out. Have a great day. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

naturalbornkillr says:

Is there a special way to get the boots to seat properly on the coil pack, mine only seem to seat with one side of the retaining clips on the coil pack. The wired are Bosch and they are new, thanks.

naturalbornkillr says:

Hello, I just replaced the plugs and wires on my 96 explorer 4.0 v6 and the boots that fit on the coil pack don’t want to just snap into place, they seem to only want to stay clipped on with only one of the retaining clips that hold it in place. They are Bosch wires and i was wondering if the dielectric grease is building pressure when I try to put them on, it runs better than before I replaced the parts but is there a certain way to get the to seat properly and have both clips holding them in

614yeloboi702 says:

hello, does the ignition coil have anything to do with a problem at start-up concerning screeching noise? another video suggested tightening belts…?

1aauto says:

You should be able to change them yourself.

Danny Montes says:

yeah its the spark plugs, is there any special way to change it, or is it possible to do it myself.

1aauto says:

It would be fuel injected then, It wouldn’t have a carburetor. You may want to change the fuel filter if it hasn’t been done in a while. It could even be a dirty injector or possibly bad spark.

Danny Montes says:

its a ford explorer v6 from the 1998, if what u told me is actually the proble, is it easy to eeplace?

1aauto says:

I’m not sure what year and type of car that it is, but if it’s a car with a carburator, you may want to check the stove pipe that goes from the exhaust to the air filter. This provides heat to the carburetor on cold days to help it to warm up quickly.

Danny Montes says:

one question, every time i go to sleep and i start my car in the morning, it takes a long time for the car to actually stay on by itself, i have to step on the gas for about 2 min so the engine would stay on, what could be the problem?
