You may want to check the blower motor resistor connections to see if they heated up at all.1aauto.com 888-844-3393

kevin bednarek says:

ok i removed it and while i was waiting for the part to come in it was cold one morning so i turned the heater dial to defrost just to clear the windshield and alot of smoke was coming out from where the resistor was… i thought the part was bad because i cant get the heater to turn on and it used to only work on high, i seen smoke right after the dial stopped working as well… any idea what it could be? its not coolant smoke, its burning plastic smell

1aauto says:

It may be the blower motor resistor that is going bad. You may want to take a look at it. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

dennis jackson says:

i have a 2006 ford taurus se. the heater/ac fan only works on high. what is the problem. thank you.

Aaron Osburn says:

This is fantastic, thanks! Helped fix my 2001 Sable… I was worried I was going to have to tear the dash apart!

Symptoms: After prolonged driving, blower got weaker and weaker until the point it didn’t blow out anything at all. Turning the blower off to cool down helped, but that’s not a good option when you’re on a long trip with limited breaks or in traffic in the summer.

Jodi Alldredge says:

Your video was extremly helpful. I had been going without air conditioning during a major heat wave here in the west with temperatures over 100 for a week straight. Your video was easy to follow and I replaced the part and now have air conditioning. God Bless you!

1aauto says:

If the A/C is turning off there could be several different things causing it to do so. It sounds as if you might have an issue with one of the actuators.

I do have a 98′ ford explorer awd.. but when is running over 60 mph… my A/C is turning off or heating what i can do with….

1aauto says:

You may want to first test the power going to the blower motor with a test light to see if the motor has power going to it. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I have an 1989 oldsmobile 98 regency. My ac/heater blower will not work.I have replaced the blower motor. Do I need to buy another control panel for ac/heater?

1aauto says:

It could be an combo between the resistor and the switch. Checking the wiring as well will come into play as well.

Boba Fett says:

ok so my car is a 2003 mercury sable and the blower will start up full speed by itself then after a couple of minutes it will turn it self off again. Everything will be off and this happens. it happens completely randomly. Everything else works though. do you think this might be the resistor thing?

1aauto says:

It may need a new blower motor resistor. Usually when they start to go you will loose the heat settings.

Brandon B. Irish says:

Will this work and fix my problem? I have a 2005 ford taurus SE, and the heater only works on high. I would like to know b4 i spend money.

brandywine68 says:

Thanks for the video.. I replaced the switch and only had high, then that stopped working. I was just about ready to buy a motor. I didn’t know there was a resistor. Now I know I have to change it. Thank you very much.

1aauto says:

Changing out the temperature actuator should solve the problem as long as the switch is working correctly as well as the door is still in one piece.

i have a 2000 ford taurus that blows cold air but wen i switch it to heat no warm air comes out. Will putting in a new one of these solve the issue? help!

Daniel A. White says:

Thanks. I put a multimeter between the positive/negative terminals to what I guess was the blower motor. I was able to get voltage, yet it still was not blowing. I’m guessing it would be the motor in that case? Thanks!

Jim Pikum says:

Thanks for the video. My heater just quit on me: I found this video, went to the store, got the part, installed it just like is shown. Saved me at least $150, which is only the amount the dealership wanted just to diagnose the problem.

1aauto says:

It could cause the issue that you are having. You may also want to inspect the plug ends that plug into the blower motor and also the blower motor resistor, to see if they are melted of loose, causing a bad connection. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day!

Daniel A. White says:

I have a 2002 Sable. My heat/cool occasionally doesn’t blow, works normally or sounds like the blower is straining to stay blowing.

After hearing that the resister could get corroded, would that be the likely part to replace and start my investigation? Thanks!

1aauto says:

The process on your 2002 Ford Focus should be different. If it has the 2.0L engine, we carry a new blower motor resistor for is on our website with free shipping. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 Part Number: 1AHBR00035

golfnut nutgolf says:

great vid. I own a 2002 focus and the fan only works on #4. would this be the same process?

1aauto says:

Usually when you start to lose the blower motor speeds it’s a sign of the blower motor resistor going bad in your car. You may also want to take the blower motor out to see if there’s any debris caught up in the cage that could be slowing it down. We carry new blower motor resistors for your 2000 Ford Taurus with FREE SHIPPING on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Mom has 00 taurus. Air comes out of vents very weak. Replaced cab air filter. Air still comes out very weak. Lost one speed setting. Would replacing this part correct this issue or would I need to replace both this part as well as the blower motor?

1aauto says:

You may want to test the switch to see if there’s an issue with it.

Really nice video…however, I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred and I am having problems with the controls in my car. My heat and air works fine however when I turn it on, I can not control the fan nor can I turn it off. I first have to press the off button then turn the car off and then everything will go off. Please help!!! I dont know what I need to have replaced the control module or something else.

1aauto says:

You may want to check the blower motor resistor to see if it’s working okay. If you have luke warm heat you could also try to take a garden hose and flush out the heater core. Sometimes over the years gunk gets caught up in there that cloggs the fins in the core and reduces the amount of heat coming out. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I have a 02 Sable and it just recently stopped giving me heat inside the car. I thought it was the thermostat but took it to the mechanic and they told me that my thermostat was working fine. They said the problem was inside of the dashboard where the vents that pushes the air inside of the car are not working properly but I get cold air blowing into the car so I was wondering if this indeed the problem. They said said labor alone would cost me $450 🙁 any suggestions?
