Great Video 1AAUTO!! Like everyone else said, made my job much, much easier and saved me at least an hour of going “umm….” 🙂
Once there’s pressure in the calipers they should adjust. If they are hanging up, there could be an issue with the calipers. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I’ve had this issue as well. The pads aren’t letting the rotors spin freely. Is there some kind of adjustment which should be done on the calipers to get them to sit right with the rotors?

Thank you 1aauto i just did my front brakes on my 06 Taurus your video made it easy 🙂 and Ty for the torque specs.
If the wheel is dragging it could be from the caliper hanging up. You will want to take of the wheel again and see if the pads are allowing the rotor to spin freely.
I just recently did this replacement, but now it seems as though the brakes on that wheel are dragging constantly. I know that the other side might need similar work, could that cause this issue?
Normally you do not need to change the rotors every time but you will have to measure the rotors for the nominal thickness and you will also have to check it to make sure it is smooth.
Excellent video. You are very helpful. Thank you.
Is in necessary to change the rotors everytime you do the breaks? How do I know when they need replacing?
Sometimes aftermarket brakes have a break in period where they will become noisy. Over time they will quiet down.
why would the new brakes i just installed get squeaky after just a day or two?
Thank you
The caliper when fully compressed will just about be flush with the caliper. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
How far do you clamp down the piston with the C-Clamp. Is there some kind of click or something to let you know you have gone far enough?
The issue could be related to a caliper that is hanging up and causing it to bind up. I would take off both wheels on the front and compare the pads between the sides to see which one is wearing quicker.
I just recently replaced my CV joint and put new rotors and pads.took it for a test drive when driving i heard this grinding noise. after there was brake dust on my wheels. Wat could be the problem?
That’a awesome Connie. We always like getting a response such as this.
im a 65 yr old woman i have been doing my breaks for 20 yrs
You’re welcome. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
This makes it look easy, thank you!
Simple and to the point, Thank you.
thats what happened to mine….. lower slider bolt was froze up ! lost my inner pad 60 miles from home, and i made it !!
i had that same horrible grinding noise also, my bottom caliper mount bracket slider bolt was froze up, therefore creating pad/rotor contact,,,,,,,,, had to wait a day or 2 to install new pads. so i am 60 miles from home, and the car would not go backwards, and very little forward motion,,,,,,, i thought what the…. then i put it into reverse to “break” the car free, and it did…….. found my inner brake pad on the ground, then “limped” it home 60 miles
thank you
You know, if you don’t have a c-clamp, you can also use a flat head screwdriver before you take off the caliper, and push the piston back in to the caliper, using the front side of the old pad, it will ruin the pad, but if you’re putting on new pads, it really doesn’t matter at all.
got to do mine today. I did it before. However I remember my old buick more. Even then it wasn’t that hard. Just a pain.
So the part that actually holds the pads… will it hurt if you go over 20 ft lbs?? I followed this video step by step and there is a horrible grinding noise now.
