Nice to see a competent young man who is obviously interested in his craft.
I just bought a Grand Marquis loaded, 1999, with 142,000 miles,
well-maintained. When should I start thinking about changing the timing
chains? Mike in Arizona

oil to head,,, tks bro,,,your the greatest!!!!!!!!!

rollinx101 says:

@civicboy123 I’ve heard that before. That the ticking sound is the fuel
injectors. You here it alot in the newer IS, GS and LS lexus models. I have
the same sound in my 03 Crown Victoria and was wondering if its normal?

blackjuice007 says:

@civicboy123 all the bearingz in the crank are all good,,,finished pulled
the 2 heads out yesterday evening!!!,,,both of the headz where shot beyond
disbelief ,,,i juss bought the expedition from miami to the virgin
islands,,,,well we got it out anyway,,it had tunzzz of sludge for dayz,,,i
gona need two headz and timing chain assembly,,and to be on the safe
side,,,,,# im on e-bay now!!!!!!!:)

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@terrance212121 That ticking noise you hear is the fuel injections
pulsating letting fuel into the cylinders.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@weail Alternator.

Marshal Richards says:

Nice car I’m having the same issues if you see my videos, but much
fainter….. I hope I don’t have the same issue you did. I have the X and 3
dots on the timing cover indicating it was serviced and I hope they changed
the oil after they serviced it…… Sounds like your passenger side head
has some lifter noise? Nice car BTW! Panthers for the win!!!

egn83b says:

Thats a ton of miles I could call it a bucket but since it works its not.

PoliceExplorer276 says:

Hello civic, Can you check out my video? I have a ticking sound in my 2009
CVPI. It has about 79K thousand miles on it and it’s a former Texas Highway
Patrol car.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@rollinx101 Yea, this is normal. The ticking noise you hear is the
injectors pulsating, opening and closing releasing fuel into the each
cylinder. Nothing to worry about.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

Listed to the video at 2:40 and you’ll see this motor has the same ticking
as you described you hear on your CVPI. The ticking noise you hear is the
injectors pulsating. Completely normal.

darrenbrown888 says:

I have a 2002 Lincoln towncar and i have a ticking noise on the left saide
but it just started makeing that ticking noise can it be Bad injectors
ticking I keep my oil change every 3 mouth can some one tel me what cause
that noise please thanks

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

Sounds like your going to need to do timing chain guides and tensioners in
the future. You probably have a failing tensioner.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@mwojo403 Timing chain isn’t usually a maintance item. Once in a great
while you see a timing chain guide and tensioner fail on one of these
vehicles. If it runs smooth, and it isn’t giving you any trouble I wouldn’t
worry about it. 99 CVs and Grand Marquis didn’t have any trouble with the
timing chains. The only thing you have to watch out for on these vehicles
is the plastic intake manifolds are prone to crack on these vehicles.

ScaleCarModels says:

That or a leaking exhaust manifold maybe broke bolt heard that somewhere.

terrance212121 says:

at 2:40 whats that ticking sounds?maybe just backside of the
fans/belt??luckily my MGM has 85k and its 2000…awesome video, thank you
civic

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@blackjuice007 Glad I could help you out. I hope the bottom end of your
motor isn’t trashed. This motor ran like a sweetheart after I was done with
it. I sold it to an older guy and he hasn’t had one problem with it since I
repaired it.

THEHOGZONE says:

Wife had a crown vic, until a dumptruck ran over the front end. Car would
haul ass

rollinx101 says:

@civicboy123 Thank you! Me and a friend on Crownvic.net have been
discussing that same ticking sound finding out what it was. It is just that
light ticking sound you have at 2:40. Thanks again!
